A man has died following a head-on collision between the utility he was driving and a semi-trailer on the Monaro Highway near Williamsdale early this morning.

The Monaro Highway is closed in both directions between Williamsdale and Royalla following the fatal accident, which occurred just before 3.50am.

ACT Policing advises drivers to find an alternate route. Diversions are in place for ordinary traffic north and southbound, but trucks must seek other routes.

Around 3.50am, police responded to reports of a collision between a utility and semi-trailer between Royalla and Williamsdale.

The driver of the semi-trailer did not sustain any injuries and is assisting police with the investigation.

ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team is at the scene.

This is the seventh fatality on ACT roads this year.

ABC radio reports the semi-trailer was B-Double (a prime mover towing two semitrailers).
