A 19-year-old Queanbeyan man who was caught driving an unregistered, uninsured black ute at 140km/h in a 60km/h zone in Cook last night will face court today charged with aggravated furious/reckless/dangerous driving, exceed speed limit, use unregistered vehicle, use uninsured vehicle and possess plates calculated to deceive.

Around 11.50pm yesterday ACT Policing Traffic Operation members were conducting a mobile patrol when they identified a black Holden Commodore utility speeding along Bindubi Street, Cook.

Police detected the ute travelling at 107km/h in an 80km/h zone.

Police followed the vehicle onto Lyttleton Crescent, Cook and conducted a further speed check to find it was travelling at 140km/h in a 60km/h zone.

Police affected a vehicle stop on the utility and arrested the 19-year-old driver. Further police enquiries indicated the number plates on the utility belonged to another vehicle and that the utility was not registered and was uninsured.

The 19-year-old was conveyed to the ACT Watch House and will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.

107 on Bindubi is fairly meh, but 140 on Lyttleton? Struth.

Was he racing an electric bike?
