the drum & base juggeranaut rolls on with devestating effect with the two guys from AI making their first visit to the capital…

Artificial Intelligence are the duo responsible for two of the biggest drum & bass club hits last year including “Desperado” and “Uprising” This year their main project is compiling and mixing the second album in the Liquid V Club Sessions series released last year which will include 20 exclusive Liquid V rollers from artists including, Roni Size, Makoto, LTJ Bukum, TC, Stress Level & TC1, Kabuki, Simonn Bassline Smith, Calibre, Total Science, Utah Jazz and remixes from Marky, High Contrast and Logistics.

Liquid V has been building its profile over the last twelve months with monthly nights at Medicine Bar, The End and Egg. There have also been one off nights in Bristol, Birmingham and around the UK and overseas including Vienna, France and Switzerland. Promoters at big events such as Innovation (where Liquid V have hosted their second arena) are already requesting Liquid V nights for their second room to add another dimension of drum & bass to their night.

There’s been a lot said about Liquid drum & bass and one of the misconceptions is that it’s not really for the clubs. Liquid V smashes that myth head on. This is club music, with a little twist from the main but comprising the best of what makes heads and feet move on a dancefloor.

The aim of Liquid V is to work with promoters in the UK and abroad to host a series of Liquid V Club Sessions nights under the banner “The Big Picture Tour “ to promote the release of this album in May 2006. Artificial Intelligence with MC Stamina will be the headline acts along with a choice of DJs and MCs involved in the project available for support. These include D- Bridge, Total Science, Q Project, TC1 & Stress Level, Fabio, Bukem, MC Darrison, MC Lowqui, High Contrast, Utah Jazz, Kabuki, Logistics, TC and DJ Marky

Smithmonger a.k.a. Paul Smith is working from a studio in Battersea, London with an intensity that ensures a busy release and remixes schedule and some notable and impressive DJ engagements.
Recent highlights include an offer and acceptance of a monthly breakbeat radio show on Ministry Of Sound and a monsterous 12” release on Supercharged records in Brighton to an enormous buzz and numerous European and domestic DJ engagements.
Originally a professional trumpet player, Paul decided to pursue electronic music in all guises and has worked with the cream of London underground to produce some fantastic and evil productions (mostly breakbeat) over the last five years.
The last three years highlights include two massive TCR releases, a release on Loaded Records, a big 12” on Hooj ‘s sub label Safety in Numbers (5 weeks in Judge Jules’ Top 10 on Radio 1), three 12” releases on Bushwacka’s Oblong (one of these is featured on James Lavelle’s ‘Barcelona’ Global Underground mix). A release on 10Kilo (‘Seen it All Before’) which debuted at No. 1 in the breaks Chart and 18 in the Buzz chart.
Smithmonger produced a wicked house release on Matthew B’s Oblong called ‘Get it Oun’ with huge support from Carl Cox (No. 3 in May 2004 chart), Lee Buridge and Dave Mothersole (Kiss FM).
Smithmonger’s 2004 bootleg of the Propeller Heads tune ‘Take California’ received official approval from the Propeller Heads as a remix.
With all this going on Paul found time to co-write an album of songs with his group ‘Unity’ and signed an e.p. to Ben Watt’s (Everything but the Girl) storming house label ‘Buzz‘n Fly’ last September.
So whether it’s grinding electro, fat rolling breaks or chunky, dirty house, you can be assured that Paul Smithmonger will be providing it for the kids on the dance floor for years to come.
