A burst hot water pipe in the $45 million cancer centre has pushed back the centre’s opening, reports ABC News.

Originally due open in November, the Hospital new predicts that the cancer centre will not be ready until early next year.

CT Health Directorate director-general Peggy Brown says the hospital is still assessing the damage bill.

“There’s quite a lot of damage to ceilings, to walls, to floor coverings, to joinery and carpentry and of course we’re also checking on the electrical and mechanical and hydraulic services as well,” she said.

“There’s a process now of accessing the damage and what’s required to remediate it.

“We have to dry the building out, work out what needs to be repaired and then we need to source the materials.”

Dr Brown says investigations are underway into how the leek occurred.

“The hot water had been on in the building for three months and had been fully pressurised during that time,” she said.

“So this is not something we could have foreseen in anyway.”

Canberra Hospital invites patients with concerns to contact their radiation oncology service on (02) 6244 2241.

I don’t think that our Labor Overlords need to manufacture a burst waterpipe to cover a blowout in time and cost. This will probably just mean the construction blowout is longer than the blowout already factored into any infrastructure project undertaken by this government.

Convenient isn’t it? Questionable timing considering the government’s track record…

And I thought vegetables were on our side. Secretly they were working as double agents looking to saboutage our best attempts to fight cancer!
