ACT Policing apprehended two juvenile males following a burglary at Wanniassa High on Sunday morning (16 October) just before Operation School Safe wound up after the recent school holiday period.

About 4.10am police attended Wanniassa High, Senior Campus, after a report that multiple alarms had been activated at the school. The gymnasium as well as another room had been entered, with property damaged in both rooms.

Two boys aged 16 and 17, were located a short distance from the school. They were arrested and taken to the Tuggeranong Police Station where their parents were notified to attend the station.

Both boys are expected to be charged with burglary and will face the ACT Childrens Court at a later date.

Operation School Safe, which ran from October 1-16, was an initiative undertaken to deter property damage and burglaries around school grounds during the October school holidays.

During the recent school holiday period (October 1-16), ACT Policing responded to six incidents of property damage, and seven burglaries at schools.

Police would continue to encourage those residents who live near schools to report any suspicious or criminal behaviour. For police response, call 131-444, or to provide information call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information can also be provided via the Crime Stoppers website at act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

I too will wager they get off with no punishment. Typical of the ACT justice system.

And of course we know what will happen to them. Zero, naught, nadda, nothing, shall I go on? Why? Cause they’ll say they are from a broken disadvantaged home and have been abused or neglected or stolen by aliens and the beak will slap their wrist and tell them to run along. I am constantl appalled by the lack of respect for other people’s property as well as for public infrastructure people have these days. Their punishment should be to a. clean up their mess and b. continue to clean the school regularly to ensure some pride the the buildings that they care for.

I agree with your punishment. It fits the crime (a notion that the ACT judiciary would do well to familiarise themselves with).

On a slightly different note, CRK seems have disappeared off the radar. Is he in the Alex, keeping his nose clean or left town?
