According to a press release from Andrew Barr the ACT government will be coughing up $5 million to go towards a new sports precinct at UC.

Several community sports organisations will be housed int he new facilities.

The ACT Budget will include a $5m grant over 4 years to accommodate community sport within the new sports precinct at UC. This delivers on an election commitment made by ACT Labor last October.

The ACT Government’s contribution also includes a $1m grant to the Brumbies for training facilities at their Griffith headquarters, the funding for which will instead be transferred to this project.

I applaud the university’s vision in developing the precinct – the collaboration between a university and sport is a first for Australia.

The precinct will be a great benefit for the Canberra community – providing a hub for community and elite sport, for students at a university level and for local school children who can learn about sport and fitness from leading professionals in the field.

I can’t believe this. On the news tonight the same university was crying poor-mouth and saying it is cutting two Asian and the Spanish language courses to save money.
What is Barr trying to do?
