There are display homes. And then there’s The Curzon, a breathtaking two-storey display home built by Mayfair Homes on Wright’s prestigious Xenica Street.

Mayfair Homes director Steve Kolak says that The Curzon, which draws its inspiration from five-star hotels around the world and has won several awards including Display Home of the Year (over $500,000) at the 2014 Master Builders National Awards, was designed and constructed with the aim to make people say ‘Wow’.

“The Curzon combines forward-thinking livability and functionality to showcase an unprecedented level of luxury,” he says.

“We wanted to find an affordable way for busy families to enjoy a bit of luxury at home, and I think we’ve achieved that with The Curzon.”

Steve is a licensed builder and qualified carpenter who has been part of the construction industry in the Canberra region for over 20 years. A tour of The Curzon makes it immediately clear that he has applied the best of his expertise and knowledge to create one of Canberra’s most outstanding display homes.

The high-end, aesthetically-pleasing home boasts spectacular views to the City, Parliament House, Black Mountain Tower, Mount Stromlo Observatory and the Brindabella mountain ranges. It features formal and informal lounge and dining areas and three large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, as well as an office and parents’ retreat.

With enormous windows – some of which reach almost six-metres in height – and nine skylights, natural daylight permeates the entire property.

The Curzon, which comes complete with a six-star energy rating, also includes a vast master bedroom suite with a private balcony and walk-through robe leading to a ‘his and hers’ ensuite with a freestanding stone bath.

The lavish yet practical kitchen and butler’s pantry are both furnished with superior European appliances. Hidden drop-down power points are used to maximise space, while electrically operated cupboards make it easy to open cupboards in hard-to-reach places such as above the cooktop.

The Curzon also features out-of-the box design finishes including paintable wallpaper, cedar cladding and integrated LED strip lighting under cupboards and benches.

Outside, there’s a covered alfresco with fireplace, a pool and landscaped low maintenance gardens. It’s easy to imagine spending many a summer afternoon entertaining friends and relaxing in such a stunning outdoor area.

The home is also a short drive to the Parliamentary Triangle, City centre, Woden, and Belconnen; with easy access to Stromlo Forest Park, the National Zoo and Aquarium, and the Arboretum.

Led by director Steve Kolak, The Curzon was designed and built by the high-performing team at Mayfair Homes. Mayfair Homes is a family-owned and operated residential construction company that specialises in delivering unique, cost-effective, custom-built homes to clients in new and established suburbs across Canberra.
