Genie went missing after let out from the groomers in Macquarie on 3rd January 2014. We are offering a $500 reward for her safe return.

Please email sarah_meadows@hotmail.com and include a photo of our dog if you have found her. We will only be responding to authentic claims of having our dog.

If you know anything at all as to her whereabouts or can provide proof as to what happened to her we would also appreciate it. We are missing her terribly .

Here’s the CT article:

Yes, is there more news about either the dog or the groomer?

So did the dog ever turn up?

Oh and for the record, we’ve had a run in with that groomer too.

Lil lady planned her day around a dog drop off to the groomer, only to arrive at the agreed booking time to be told that the groomer wouldnt take her because he “wanted to take the afternoon off”.

No apology, no nothing… Poor business that treats its customers and its dogs disgracefully.

Sarah
If you’ve not done so, check with the crowd that meets after 5 at Cook ovals.

The missus walks our beast down there and there are quite frequently (surprisingly frequent, really) strays running around that seem to congregate in that area – they seem to like the hubbub.

There’s no formal group – so I can’t help you there – just seems to be a common meeting place on a daily basis. Given its probably a 1.5km stroll from the Macquarie shops, I’d say its the highest probability spot to find your dog. Good luck.

Miley is the dog written about in the previous Canberra Times article that was left with sever burns.
Really hope the Genie’s family finds Genie or gets the answers they are entitled to.

That is horrific! I honestly read the burns thing as an exaggeration, thinking it was probably just a small burn with the hot part of a hairdryer. That is unbelievable – how on earth does a groomer keep going without noticing the injuries he/she is causing? 🙁 Awful 🙁

She is desperately wanted back.

There are lots of Somalians that “desperately” want a meal. Plenty of people in the middle-east “desperately” need protection from the dark-ages theocracies that oppress them.

Nice threadjack there CraigT. What are you doing to help the Somalians and people in the middle-east? Why don’t you feed a couple of them every month instead of paying for internet access? That’s incredibly selfish of you. Why do you value your internet access over someone else’s life?

I thought he was implying Somalians had eaten the dog. Pretty poor taste, really.

It didn’t take long but this post has well and truly gone to the dogs…

Any news on Genie yet? If not, we sadly need to contemplate that her disappearance may have occurred to cover up a mishap. Our dog was regularly clipped by this business but until this mystery is solved he will have to contend with an ugly home style haircut.

Yes, papillons taste horrible, I much prefer a well done Hungarian vizsla…

I’ll take your word for it as I’ve never tasted dog before. Though I would expect a good marinade would make a huge difference.

And it seems you are “desperately” looking for a clue. Go peddle your crazy in some other thread please.

He’s already done that. Please don’t encourage him.

Poor Genie. I live nearby. I’ll keep an eye out for her.

Boo to Animal Attraction.

Unethical groomers with an already poor history. I suspect your dog has met with fool play and recommend you report it to the police.

the owner/manager of the grooming place also owns the shop at hume that did this one…

http://www.canberratimes.com.au/act-news/dogs-left-with-thirddegree-burns-after-visits-to-groomer-20131101-2wrmm.html

This topic is all over the ‘Canberra lost pets’ page on facebook. I can’t believe the groomer ‘accidentally’ let a dog out and/or couldn’t catch a pint sized 11 yo dog. given nobody has seen it in 6 or 7 weeks there is huuuuge speculation as to whether the groomers did something ‘else’ and poor Genie has potentially paid the ultimate price.

I sincerely hope that poor Genie is found. She is desperately wanted back.

The Company involved should be doing everything they can to find her. I live within ..km’s from where she went missing but have received nothing in the mail!

Did you read the article? The business doesn’t give a crap. They didn’t even admit they were responsible, instead choosing to blame a customer for opening a door. A pathetic, inexcusable response from Animal Attraction, who had a duty of care for this animal.

The OP has been very restrained in not slamming this business in their post.

That’s awful, I hope you find Genie soon. I reckon Animal Attraction should foot the reward money!

wow that’s a horrible thing to have to go through, someone really needs to give that shop owner a big kick up the a$$.

Good Luck!
