The Wedded Bliss will be playing this Thursday, May 31 at the Old Cannberra Inn. Gig starts at 8pm.

It’s free, and as I’m posting this in between writing a last minute ArtsACT Grant pitch, I’ll spare the hype. I can’t promise you artists, bohemians or trapeze artists… but you will get some good, honest, local country/blues/folk music. Murhpy’s law suggests that there will probably be some kind of artistic, bohemian, trapeze artist spectacle on at the same time. Oh well.

ps…is there anyone out there that knows how to write a good grant app? I’m struggling to put the ‘zing’ into the phrase ‘give me money to make my second album’.

p.s. Thumper draws better pictures.

For next year, give me a holler with a little more notice and I’ll see what I can whizbang up.

I am, actually, really good at writing grants.

I’ll take that as a compliment!

If you came & saw the Wedded Bliss, you’d see a lot of facial hair & check shirts…the 70s was the only time you could see genuinely ugly people on the top 40 hit parade.

We’d be right at home on the Midnight Special…we’re just hairy, pauncy & ugly enough.

Its bling not zing. Geez so 70s

Well, good luck anyway. You never know – this could be your year!

Thanks for offer people, but my application is currently placed upon a huge pile of other contenders at the Nara Centre as I type. I shall now wait patiently by my letterbox for the next four months for the form letter reply.

“Dear Plebeian Rock-Star wannabe,

Thank you for applying…blah blah…we’ve had so many applications blah….unfortunately…blah…please spend 30 or 40 more hours of your life retyping & editing your purple promo prose next year…It needs more ‘zing!

Regards,

Susie Creamcheese”
(apologies to Frank Zappa, I couldn’t think of another name)

Sorry I didn’t want to start bitching about the process until AFTER I get rejected.

I am the Grants Manager within my volunteer organisation, but can write up the grant professionally.

Does the grant have words to this effect? :

Applicants who are sponsored may seek an amount to cover the sponsors costs of administering the contract, banking, preparation of the Final Report, etc. This amount should be reasonable in proportion to the total project funding and not more than $x

If so, MEGA COOL.

Thumper is very good at writing grant applications 🙂
