2. New Mental Health Unit
I attended the open house for the Adult Mental Health Unit at the Canberra Hospital today. It’s a very impressive facility and it’s huge. The official statements say it’s a 40 bed facility that can increase to 50 but it looked larger than that to me.

It’s great to see an investment in such an important area of health care but I remain very skeptical that the ACT Gov has the budget to operate such a facility. Hopefully those that have been turned away due to a lack of beds for years will now be able to access the services they need.

One thing is for sure, if you ever have to stay in hospital for mental health issues it will be in a facility that’s much nicer than what’s available now.
