Knowing how much RiotACT readers despise spin, here is a completely neutral, spin-free plug.

The Transylvaniacs, a band of Australians who’ve spent the last 20 years steadily ‘going native’ in Transylvania, perform Hungarian, Romanian and Gypsy music at the Folkus Room (in the Serbian Club, 5 Heard St. Mawson), at 8pm Friday 23 May. It costs $15 to get in, or $12 if you’re one of the concessed.

This is dancing, hollering music distilled over hundreds of years in a land where grandmothers consume moonshine before breakfast. The Transylvaniacs have no myspace page, and in fact almost no web presence whatsoever. It doesn’t get much more old-skool than that, surely?
