Narrabundah College Theatre Arts Faculty is delighted to announce the opening of its world premiere of the uniquely exciting “REFLECTIONS OF A JOURNEY’S END”, a one-act play devised by Ernie Glass, drawing on the creative geniuses of Michael Leunig, Julian Lamb, Tom Stoppard, Samuel Beckett, T.S.Eliot, Ingmar Bergman, Douglas Adams, Jacques Brel and Richard Bach. The Year 12 cast of nine actors and two musicians have spent over five months creating this production, which encapsulates four separate, although inextricably linked journeys: the Master of the Universe searches for his long-lost love; Eb and Flo find themselves trapped in an absurd play and desperately seek the end of their dilemma; lone-voyager, Vasco Pyjama, is on a quest “which will carry him to the end of his world” and Sayla-Vee, accompanied by her childhood companion, Flotsam the rag-doll, struggles to locate Vasco, who is Sayla’s missing father. Linking all the journeys and acting as catalysts whereby all the characters’ paths ultimately cross are the enigmatic, chameleon-like personalities of Alpha, Omega and Madame D., in conjunction with the two Old Lovers, who weave a musical web of memory. This bizarre and eccentric tragi-comedy contains many delightful and poignant influences from some of the great works of the 20th century (including “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead”, “Waiting for Godot”, the poetry of T.S.Eliot, “The Seventh Seal”, “A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” and “The Voyages of Vasco Pyjama”), while our talented musicians have combined an original musical score with additions from Jacques Brel, Mitch Leigh and Joe Darion. Directed by Ernie Glass, Tom O’Neill, Blair Dutney and Denis Mackay, with musical direction by Louisa Searle, “REFLECTIONS OF A JOURNEY’S END” will be shown at Narrabundah College’s Hawk Theatre from Thursday 15th – Saturday 17th May and from Wednesday 21st – Saturday 24th May at 7.30pm.
