[As a Foundation Sponsor of the Canberra Musicians Club, The Riot Act has two single pass tickets to give away to Riot Act Premium members. Email here to go in the draw to win, entries close 5pm, Friday 31 October]

November marks the start of the Australian music festival season, synonymous with eager crowds, cold beer, amazing bands and walls of amplified sound. Canberra’s inaugural Allstars Acoustic Festival is unique, it has all these ingredients except the last – it uses no amps. In a Canberra first, this festival takes festival staples of booze, food, good mates and a long, long list bands all in an acoustic setting within the cosy surrounds of DNA Studio at Gorman House in Civic on Saturday November 8th.

    — The O’Hooligans
    — Hashemoto
    — Mr Fibby
    — The Wedded Bliss
    — The Cashews
    — Dr Stovepipe
    — The Ellis Collective

PLUS – The only festival ever to feature DJing on a fully functioning ‘Rexonoloa’ gramaphone – no electrics in this baby, she’s also totally acoustic.

This completely acoustic show is proudly affiliated with the Canberra Musicians Club and will kick off with an opportunity to catch up with mates over a BBQ and cold beer from 6:00 as the daylight savings softly wane. Music will start at 7:00 sharp – unfortunately the fashionably late will miss out. Badly.

As this show is acoustic ticket numbers are strictly limited and prepurchase is recommended before the night to avoid disappointment. Tickets are $20 Full and $15 for Members & Concession. Tickets are available the old fashioned way through Landspeed Records or online using paypal through The Canberra Musicians Club:

UPDATED: Congratulations to Skidbladnir winning the draw for the free tickets!

FURTHER UPDATE: Skidbladnir has been engulfed by secret business and is no longer able to attend. So the first reader, premium or otherwise to email john@the-riotact.com gets their name(x2) on the door. Bonus!

Congrats to Tracker who was first in and now gets the tix.

I don’t think I stopped smiling all night!

: )

One of the happiest times.

I too had the most wonderful of times.

because there were no mics or PA system, recording was never really an option although I did see at least one bootlegger there on the night.

to quote one of last night’s lyrics – ‘only the memory remains…’

This event was brilliant!

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who played and organised it. It surpassed my expectations.

My next question – was it recorded, and if so, when/where can I buy the CD?

I am giving this thread a bump so people pay attention to it.
I cannot attend, so the tickets are again up for grabs for everyone.

Given it is unamplified, tickets are limited to 100 so if you pay good money you are guaranteed to be able to hear it and appreciate it properly.

Also, if you squeeze more than 100 people into DNA studios everyone will have to take it in turns to breathe otherwise the room will explode. This may be challenging for vocalists.

Really, its a tiny place. 100 is plenty.

I see.

unsure as to whether i need to explain futher, but just in case the question is genuine… Given it is unamplified, tickets are limited to 100 so if you pay good money you are guaranteed to be able to hear it and appreciate it properly.

Why are ticket numbers strictly limited because it’s an acoustic show? Are there government regulations about this sort of thing?

They say this every week.

With the same ‘bands’.

Actually dear troll, to my knowledge, this concept has never been explored before in Canberra.

Totally bummed out that I will be out of town and will miss this one, but for everyone else, drop everything and get a ticket. It’ll be one they’ll be talking about for a long time afterwards.
