Allstars Acoustic Festival - The morning after

In a big weekend double header for live original and local music in Canberra the Allstars Acoustic Festival quietly rocked Gorman House’s DNA Theatre last night.

The difficulty of getting un-amplified singers to a crowd of 100 was cunningly solved by a very formal seating arrangement. This encouraged paying attention to the band and discouraged genial gas-bagging.

Fortunately a generous intermission between each set gave plenty of time for gasbagging, toilet stops, and going to the bar.

For mine the highlight of the night was the sartorially resplendent Curly (of the O’Hooligans) belting the wheel of an MG with a hammer in a raucous display.

The theatrical madness of Dr. Fibby also deserves an honourable mention.

That said without wanting to detract from the other performers who were unfailingly superb.

Keep your eyes peeled for more event organised by the Canberra Musician’s Club.

surprising ! 😀

Thanks, bloodnut! Done!!

: )

Thanks, guys! I’m happy to buy another copy though. I would like to give something back, and it was a nice souvenir of some great times. The whole thing is a bit of a mystery. My diary has also gone missing annoyingly, and my silver bracelet. Perhaps I will find them in the refrigerator!

or that.

although last check i carry little authority in the general scheme of things…

Or…. considering you say you have purchased a copy, and with the authority of The Ellis Collective, quite happy to burn you a copy.

Go to file2hd.com and enter http://www.myspace.com/mrmattyellis you should be able to rip the sound files off the page for your personal use – only if you have faith in your spyware etc.

i make no money from music anyway so copyright infringement is hardly an issue – i’d rather you listened to it instead.

Uh huh. I think ….

is that the orange ep ?

I am so sad. I have lost my copy of the EP and I never even got to play it! I’ve been asking everybody in the family, and no-one has seen it.

*sigh*

Of course, Overheard! … And I have my $1 ready too!!

*hehe*

True. I offloaded a ticket to the Allstars (sounds like money well-spent), the CMC m’ship and one of blood-nut’s EPs in one fell swoop. You’re a bit of a soft touch there, Granny.

Still waiting on that first payment for the Kings Avenue Bridge though. Are you good for that this evening at the “dive”?

You have to watch out for Overheard – he sold me a membership too!

*chuckle*

Although I wasn’t terribly hard to sell really ….

I am quite sorry I missed it. 🙁

Will there be more?

Skid, the details will get a run here on RA, but you can also watch the Events page at the CMC web-site: http://www.canberramusiciansclub.org.au/

There’s the monthly nights at the Phoenix plus some interesting stuff in the pipeline for 2009, including the Fringe Festival and a couple of other events on the drawing board. Check out the site for details of extra events for members (hint!)

Well you know, keep your eyes peeled.

I am quite sorry I missed it. 🙁

Will there be more?

Totally!!

Well I was fascinated by the range of shoes. And the filthy feet (recognise them?) were a request shot.

and a most beautiful theatre space provided by the guys at DNA Studios – the photos are wonderful Kerces… apart from the mild foot fetish – one set were particularly filthy.

That was a fantastic night! I really really enjoyed it, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I can say that I will be looking for events like these much more often.

Well done to all involved – super-dooper-awesome.
