Renting a commercial kitchen in Canberra?

Depending on where you live, you might find a local day-operating cafe could be your best bet for a bit of late afternoon into the evening cooking. From memory, Kim de Poorter who sells pates, terrines, rillettes etc at the Farmer’s Markets got started with borrowing or renting after hours commercial kitchen space in a cafe.

I’d try Cooking Coordinates. They usually use their kitchens for demonstrations and even get tv crews in to record tv cooking shows but I imagine they would be thrilled to have a chef rent a bit of time too. i think there is a place out at Fyshwick markets that rents as needed.

Communities at Work have venues around the place which have kitchens. Mainly for if you wanted to hold a party, but I did enquire if the kitchen could be used on it’s own and they said yes. Where that stands according to any legislative requirements I don’t know, but the venue we used at Bonython was pretty good, although the actual oven was on the smaller side. I believe all of these venues are on the southside. The one we used was in a new purpose built community building.
