Channel 10 No Reception?

The assumption being that an amplifier is usually only needed because the signal strength has changed or you have cabled up more outlets. If it was working its far more likely to be the cabling, but yes get a professional in. Oh its worth moving the cable and checking the sockets. I’ve seen that fix it sometimes and isn’t really something you need a professional for.

As for HD quality, compare it to what Fox broadcast HD at and you’ll realise its poor. SD is also poorer on free to air and that is definitely affected by extra channels regardless of how compressed Gold2 or TVSN are. To think they took forever to start up digital second and third channels and then all of a sudden the shopping/infomercial channels spring up like rabbits. Does anyone ever seriously watch these?

Thanks for all the suggestions..its only the Big Bash I wanted to watch, so probably not worth getting an aerial guy out just for that. I’ll try an improving book instead!

But I did study engineering in this, so i know what I’m doing.

Guys, check your antenna.
I don’t mean fix it yourself, but if it’s broken in some way then it will be blatantly obvious even for you (e.g. bent, broken, or half-severed coax cable).

If you’re having trouble with ABC24, but not with ABC1, ABC2 etc, then it has nothing to do with reception or transmission. For each broadcaster, all their “channels” are on the same physical frequency. eg ABC1, ABC2, etc are multiplexed on the same bit stream that is transmitted on the one frequency. It is your TV that decodes out which ever one you’ve selected.

The problem would be either side of Black Mountain, either a problem with the TV, or whatever ABC is doing to their bit stream.

I had issues with audio on ABC24 and Gem a couple of nights ago.

All other channels were fine and all signal strength readings on my TV were 100% signal and 100% signal quality. So I suspect there’s an issue on Black Mountain. The problem with having all TV and radio signals in one place is that if there’s an issue, it can affect multiple stations.
