ACT Policing is seeking witnesses following the report of an attempted abduction of a 13-year-old girl in Conder this morning (Wednesday, 18 June).
About 8.45am, the teenage girl was walking to school when a man got out of his van, which was parked in Cremorne Place, and followed her.
The man grabbed the girl by the wrist from behind. The girl was able to break free and flee away from the man. The man did not speak during the attempted abduction.
The male is described as being Middle Eastern/Mediterranean in appearance, aged in his mid-30s, approximately 6” (183cm) tall, with a stocky build and short, dark brown hair. The man was wearing black cargo pants, with a ‘fluoro’ jacket and dark coloured ‘workmen’ boots.
The van is described as being possibly a VW make, white in colour with a small logo only on the driver’s side door. . The van has no rear windows except for a tinted window at the passenger side rear door. There is a metal step across the back of the van.
