What a sensational day for a walk

+1 for Shepherds Point.
+1 again for Jaramlee.

Burnt Stump Hill +1. For more of a challenge try it on a mountain bike.
Watched an echidna pottering around up there. they are so oblivious to the world around them.

I usually head off from near the Macgregor shops and head upstream towards latham, taking in the boardwalk in Umbagong park and keep gpoing until I hit ginninderra drive, then cross over the creek and come back.

If you want to try a bit of a longer walk you can start from Ginninderra Ck out the back of Macgregor/Dunlop on the road to the Jaramlee farm.

Awesome guys. Haven’t heard of some of these places before, will most definitely have to give them a go.

Personally, I find the nylon fold up bowls a godsend, One lives in my boot with a bottle of water but its still a great gesture by someone in the community.

dan, the view from tralee is worth the short hike up the hill, it isn’t a steep walk, and the view is amazing. I am thinking that i will set up there for the next dry day with approaching storm…

the overpass is off henry melville cres, walk through to the other side, straight and then up to the right. there is a gate to negotiate & then up past the reservoir. view at the reservior is pretty good, but further up is just wonderous.

has anyone walked to the top of mount taylor? what is the view like from there? Always wanted to climb it, but never knew how long it would take.

One of the many reasons that I love Canberra, is the ease of access to good, open, walking, and with such quality views.

As the Pinnacle has been noted already (and as most here know I’m a devotee of the Pinnacle) how about a walk up and over the twin peaks of Urambi Hills, taking in the seats on the tops for a spot of meditative thought.

Thanks Thumper. I take the little one out in the pram pretty regularly and it’s always good to scope new walks close to home.

As pretty as it is, I think we’re all getting sick of the sight of Pegasus and that side of things. I love to head out to Mt Ainslie/Mt Majura (which was *packed* on Sunday) but it’s not always possible.

I have recently moved to gilmore, and went for a walk through the underpass under the monario highway and up a steep road uphill to possibly the best views of the tuggeranong valley I have ever seen. below me was adventure paintball, which makes me realise that i can walk there – so can combine exercise and fun.

The map tells me that i am in tralee, and the road runs next to the old rail line for a while, but it is breathtaking to look down on the valley – I have only ever looked from the other direction, from booroomba rocks, but the accessibility of this site makes me wonder why it isn’t used as a photography venue? i would love to get the camera out when a summer storm comes through, over the hills, it would be magic.
