Belconnen Way Crash

It’s part of a series of installation artworks that will be placed on roadsides throughout the ACT. It’s a joint NSW / ACT funded arts project that celebrates the life of the late Mully Williams in sculpture.

Has anyone seen the big pile of discarded Jim Beam and Cola cans on the roadside near the NSW border? It’s a remarkable piece!

It happened on Thursday afternoon, last week. I followed the firies (lights flashing) rushing there but when they hit the GDE, they turned around and headed back to Civic. The cops blocked one of the lanes, set up 4 cop cars and stood around.

Since then, nothing.

As Zek said above, maybe it’s a new ‘stop speeding’ advert.

Thank god it wasn’t a new crash, as I was heading east along Belconnen Way tonight when I noticed it. I wondered if I should stop & check to see if it was recent or not, but knew lots of cars were heading west (that side of the median strip) & surely one of them would be in a safer position to stop.

That would be why they put the fire brigade tape around the car so people don’t keep calling us saying an accident has just happend.

I wondered if I should stop & check to see if it was recent or not, but knew lots of cars were heading west (that side of the median strip) & surely one of them would be in a safer position to stop.

It can sometimes take a day or two for cars to be removed from the side of the road, I guess depending on the ability of the driver to pay for the tow truck.

It looks like a prop.

A car that is small enough to move around, with yellow emergency tape to draw the eye, in an unlikely position, with enough damage for passers by to think ‘Damn, that’s pretty bad’.

Perhaps it is the next phase for Belconnen way, after the three-in-a-row speed traps.

Not likely, but it crossed my mind…

Curiosity and all that. If you pose that question, I’m guessing you don’t watch or read a lot of news?

I was going to ask the same thing as I have been wondering every day driving home from work how the car hit the tree in that position. It looks like the impact was pretty fierce or at least the person / people in the car would have been injured but there has been nothing in the news.

Yeah, it’s been puzzling me too. I drove past the day it happened and there were a heap of Indian (Not the Sitting Bull kind…) folks looking at it. It looks pretty messed up and in a very odd place, especially with the tape.
