Caz hangs up the boots.

johnboy 26 April 2006 27

Over on TSSH, former award winning Canberra blogger Caz has hung up her boots after a campaign of intimidation.

Meanwhile, elsewhere on the internet, the smug self-congraultatory coterie of self-appointed “blog-elite” are lifting their champagne flutes. Not to be forgotten no end of wankers and pricks, who’ve felt the much deserved TSSH lash, are pontificating over their “victory”. (and they can all lift their piss-weak page rankings without help from me)

I think it’s a shame Caz has walked away from the fight. But I accept that, to her, the price of victory over such pathetic foes might not have been worth paying.

But as a 23yo pregnant woman you were hardly in a position to do that, I appreciate

I stand by my orginal comment though. There are threats and there are threats. People who genuinely are going to do something bad to someone just do it, they don’t threaten it.

Not saying what you felt isnt valid by any stretch of the imagination, just making a general point.

Then again if I had’ve been notified of such a threat by my partner I would have simply popped around to his place and caved his head in

Mael, I was 23yo at the time. I wasn’t happy with the result as such, but he did stop.

Hell, we have it in writing how the threatened to come to my house and beat me up knowing I was pregnant.

Not a nice bloke. They took it more serious when we printed out the threats – which were directed to both of us but being a civvie helped immensely.

Personally, I should have got my WO uncle to go to ADFA to kick his arse…..

vg, it was in writing that he was “going to” come to my house.

Either way, it stopped. I just pity the poor 14yo’s he hit on…

some people need to lighten up.. really

Maelinar Maelinar 3:15 pm 26 Apr 06

Sorry, whenever I read that, I seem to read “attempted to come into my house”.

Nonetheless, nothing can be done if nothing is said.

P.S. Nys, the military can’t discriminate against your husband either if you make the civil charges. The military may have a stranglehold on your husband, but you are a civillian and they don’t run your life. If they were to discriminate against your husband, that’s a seperate chargeable offence.

Attempted to come to her house Mael. That may need to be clarified by what she meant as some ‘attempting’ to come to her house. You either do or you don’t

Maelinar Maelinar 2:36 pm 26 Apr 06

nyssa76, I have one word to say to you. “Military Police”.

Everybody know’s they are fucking useless, but they will write up a good record of conversation that you can then threaten to take to current affair when it goes to shit (as it will when the MP’s are involved).

Nothing like a media backlash against the military (doesn’t matter which one) to get the ball rolling extremely quickly again.

You could also take it through the civil courts as well and use the record of conversation as credible evidence there. The point I would like to highlight here is that you are a 29yo female pregnant civillian who was broken into by a member of the military, which is a civil matter.

I’ve had things at my house smashed, as well as having my life directly threatened because of the job I do.

Like I say, there are threats and then there are threats

As someone who has been cyber-stalked – thanks to a nut job who had it in for my husband – (see post on TSSH) I do feel for Caz.

My children were threatened and the person actually attempted to come to my house – I was pregnant at the time.

The idiot was an officer in the Defence Forces – I won’t say which one – and he was “caught” out by a senior officer once my husband complained to his senior officer.

It’s not fun.

So what did my husband do to warrant this? He told the guy to stop “hitting” on 14yos at a mutual friends party.

Gotta love the net sometimes.

If my memory serves me correctly there is anti “cyber-stalking” legislation in Victoria.

actually, yes, i quite admired what SGS said about it too. Seemed very reasoned and, well, adult.

vg vg 12:04 pm 26 Apr 06

Sorry, maybe not brought it on herself, as thats a little too much, but it shouldnt be a shock to her is probably a better way to put it. If you wanna play 1st grade expect a few knocks

vg vg 12:02 pm 26 Apr 06

SGS has come out of this looking most magnanimous. There are threats and there are threats. Without knowing exactly what was said to Caz its hard to work out if it was fair dinkum or not, but its what it means to Caz, not me.

Having said that I stand by what I originally said. Threatening a child is a gutless disgrace, and if anyone stupidly did so to mine I would hunt them down with a fury never seen and make them pay physically and mentally. But with Caz’s vitriolic history and personal barbs the birds are unfortunately coming home to roost.

Whatever we say here it never really extends to the point where we feel the need to go outside this forum to make matters worse. Its pitiful, pathetic and gutless that some has done this to Caz, as everyone is tough at the end of a phone line but (and I’ll go out on a limb here) she brought it on herself

It is an attack on Australian values. That being, taking the piss.

LurkerGal LurkerGal 10:29 am 26 Apr 06

Well I will miss her. I think what has happened is appalling, and it is very sad that it has come to this.

Maelinar Maelinar 10:29 am 26 Apr 06

It would appear that Caz has an established history of threats against her child, although the topic is abhorrent, it reeks of cry wolf syndrome.

I would ask the question, why hasn’t the matter been taken up with the police ? A threat against a child, even as a cyber-offence is a crime, and should be dealt with.

If it had been taken up with the police, I’m sure their primary advice would not have been along the lines of retire from your blog immediately. Even then, it wouldn’t be too hard to find the IP address of who the troglodyte was who has posted the comments and commence your investigations from there. I’ve seen all of this being done on years and years of NCIS, LA Law etc…

Congrats to SGS as well, his response was very well penned and displays maturity. She who lives by the sword, dies by the sword.

Unfortunately, everybody now know’s somebody’s Achilles Heel. I would expect a recurrent theme, which kind of makes for an interesting continued life as a blogger wielding a sword.

but when you are crazy your sense of reality and morals are messed up….. it shouldn’t happen but more times than not its going to…

Slinky I agree that sam has showed a pretty high level of sophistication in his response to it…

terubo terubo 10:12 am 26 Apr 06

My day has been irrevocably ruined by this devastating news.

And I think this comment on TSSH says it all (attn: not politically correct)

Don’t get hung up on the kid thing nobody should be subject to threats of violence, child, adult, weak, strong, saint, rockspider, no matter how provocative they may be. Such threats may be expected if nuphy baiting is your hobby but this does not justify it.
