The Edit is a new series that showcases Canberra’s fashion and beauty offerings. Produced by Jade Hansen, The Edit is a modern woman’s guide to keeping chic in our capital city.
This week on The Edit, we checked out Mon Purse, Canberra’s personalised leather goods store in the Monaro Mall.
With an ever-growing list of destination stores coming to Canberra, the arrival of Mon Purse’s pop-up in the Canberra Centre’s Beauty Precinct has been welcomed with open arms. Since the unveiling of the Monaro Mall’s beauty and wellness space in 2017, we beauty and fashion-loving Canberrans have been waiting (and guessing) with bated breath as to which brands will fill the space. In such a trendy spot, the addition of Mon Purse is sure to please. Who doesn’t love the idea of personalising their accessories and the opportunity to customise a bag?
Based on the Build-a-Bear concept, Mon Purse gives its clients the chance to design their very own high-quality leather goods in colour combinations of their choice while adding a personal touch.
– We honour the art of making something traditionally by hand and the quality that can only be achieved in this way – Mon Purse.
Founded in 2014 by Sydney girl Lana Hopkin’s, Mon Purse offers in-store monogramming and has an extensive collection on offer. The choices are endless, and their made-to-order range is a simple five-step process; be warned this is not for the indecisive! If like me, you are an impatient consumer, their off-the-shelf range is the perfect solution.
This large cosmetic case in tan had my name on it (well my initial) from the minute I felt it; the buttery leather and high-quality hardware, combined with the perfect tan hue ticked all the boxes for me. Of course, I found it tough to decide on the monogram – should I have my full name or just my initial? I can honestly say I made an offer on my home faster than choosing the understated, lowercase ‘J’ in gold.
With a sense of achievement after my visit to Mon Purse, it was time to take full advantage of the Beauty Precinct; with a glass of champagne in hand and a pedicure imminent, it is difficult not to think, what a wonderful time it is to be living in Canberra.
