Jazz Uncovered returns for its second year, with a range of great Canberra jazz bands mixed with visitors to spice up the mix.
Our feature this year is the Hauptmann siblings. They are genuine Canberra products who are now in the top echelon of the Sydney and Melbourne jazz scenes. See and hear Zoe’s quirky, roots-crossover Buttercups and the three Hauptmanns performing tracks from their new album as the family trio.
Come early for a very big day of excellent and inspiring music. Expect a range of musics, not just opaque instrumentals. There’s a large ensemble of ~17 players, several singers, trios to sextets and septets, organ outfits, latin and funk and even circus music. A range of different styles for a day of intelligent exploration and joy. Players come from the ANU Jazz Faculty, our best local professionals, and visitors including Jonathon Zwartz and Matt McMahon (also a teacher at the Jazz School).
Food and drinks are available in the club at very reasonable prices, so make a day of it. We’ve kept the price down to a miniscule $35 ($25 concession). What better deal can you find? At these prices, you can just drop in for a few hours. Support inventive music in Canberra. Be there! And very many thanks to the ACT Govt’s Festival Fund for its support. Much appreciated!
