(For those coming in late, below is a rolling coverage as the story broke)

Sen.com.au is reporting on a revolting photograph, allegedly of a high profile Raiders player, circulating widely online.

The picture is being pushed particularly hard by a fake Wyatt Roy (the very young Liberal Member for Longman) Twitter feed.

RiotACT approached the Raiders this morning for comment and at this time have not heard back. We’ll update if we hear anything.

The Herald Sun is now on the story and the NRL is reportedly investigating.

UPDATED: With more details of the act circulating I’ve decided to remove the player’s name, but we can add that the picture involved an obscene act with a dog.

FURTHER UPDATE: There’s now quite a lot of national media on this. Still nothing from the Canberra Times.

AMAZING UPDATE: The Sydney Morning Herald is naming Joel Monaghan and Monaghan’s manager Jim Banaghan appears to be confirming the photo is not faked.

The photograph of Monaghan, a NSW and Australian representative, was allegedly taken during Canberra’s Mad Monday festivities.

“It’s very disappointing; he appears to have been subjected to a bit of tomfoolery by some teammates,” said Monaghan’s manager, Jim Banaghan.

“One of his teammates has taken a picture of it and it’s been passed around.

“I believe everyone involved is disappointed in what they have done.

How do we stop now? On the basis that we must either cry or laugh, a friend has pointed out that Canberra’s greatest musical exports, the Doug Anthony All Stars, have just the NSFW song:

DAAS

RSPCA Comment: The RSPCA’s Michael Linke has made this comment:

Whilst it appears no laws have been broken, as CEO of RSPCA ACT I am disgusted at the image. Every day RSPCA works to improve the bond we have with our pets. The act degrades and shows complete disrespect for animals. This type of image violates the trust we receive from our pets and it is an act that should be made illegal in the ACT immediately.

Statement from Joel Monaghan:

This has been posted on League Unlimited:

Joel Monaghan has issued a statement through his manager Jim Banaghan today expressing both remorse and disgust at an alcohol fuelled prank that led to images being circulated across social networks today.

“Joel can’t blame anyone but himself for an act of stupidity that will haunt him for the rest of his life,” Manager Jim Banaghan said today.

“Joel wants to make it clear that he was the one playing a prank on an absent team mate by simulating the act.

“There are no words of explanation that can be offered because none can be appropriate.

“Joel has to now face his family as well as fans and supporters with that shame and has already undergone counselling to help him cope with the consequences of what has happened.

“It was a moment of abject stupidity brought about by too much drink and a complete lack of any thought process.

“The fact that someone has sought to compound the situation further by the use of social media only adds to the trauma but Joel accepts that it is his actions alone that are at fault.

“He apologises unreservedly for the outrage that people feel at the moment and blames nobody but himself.

“He will meet the club over the issue and accepts that there must be ramifications but the fact is he is not in a fit emotional state to have those discussions at the moment.

“Joel is a genuinely good person who is simply shattered by a moment of sheer madness.”

UPDATE: The Age’s video snippet has part of the picture in question.

TV Coverage

Here’s how WIN News lead their bulletin cute how they don’t mention the act but drag the RSPCA in:

And here’s the ABC take, which ran very late in the bulletin:

NRL response:

The NRL have now issued a statement:

The National Rugby League has today warned the Canberra club that it will closely monitor any disciplinary action taken against Raiders player Joel Monaghan.

NRL Chief Executive Mr David Gallop said that he was shocked and appalled at the image circulated of the player in the media today.

“We have a system of allowing clubs to take the initial action in relation to disciplinary issues as they are the employers and we will maintain that principle,” Mr Gallop said.

“The fact of the matter remains that in any circumstance this is an appalling incident and one that has offended everyone associated with the sport.

“It is important that the club deals with it appropriately and that it reports to the NRL as soon as possible on the outcomes.”

Holy Crap!

If you don’t think a major football star caught with his old fella in a dog is big news check this out:

Visit graph

(the first big spike is Mully Williams, the second is the GDE collapse)

Joel, in all seriousness, I’d like to thank you for fessing up rather than suing everyone running it into the ground. I think you need to engage them old thought processes a bit more, but I’ll buy you a beer anytime for being a man about the whole regrettable situation.

While we’re here: Melbourne’s VexNews is running a somewhat tastefully blurred version of the photo while ending with:

We doubt even Brendan Fevola will be able to top this.

So there’s the photo:

Joel Monaghan and dog [Photo courtesy myfoxdw]

Given the level of public discussion we’ve decided to publish a heavily pixellated version of the photograph so everyone knows what’s being talked about.

This version comes from a TV channel in Dallas Texas which has currently got it as the number one news story on their site.

The rest of the world now thinks this is what Canberrans are like.

How to cover a dog sex scandal: The team on Deadspin have documented how they covered the story.

World media: As Canberra gains the wrong sort of reputation for being dog-lovers here’s a sample of international reporting:

He picked a good time for it: We’ve received the following comment from an ACT Government spokesperson on the bestiality laws:

The government had already identified a deficiency in the Crimes Act 1900 and the government agreed in September 2010 to re-establish the offence of bestiality. The offence was removed from the ACT statutes prior to self government.

Legislation to re-establish the offence of bestiality is currently being drafted by the government and it is planned to be introduced into the Legislative Assembly in December. If passed, the ACT law will be broader in its application than most other Australian jurisdictions, because any sexual activity between a person and an animal would be an offence under the Act.

Sponsor’s reaction: The Herald Sun reports that major sponsors are threatening to walk away from the club in droves:

The Daily Telegraph has learned at least four of the Raiders’ major sponsors have written letters to the club threatening to withdraw $1 million worth of revenue over the lewd photograph of Monaghan.

A number of other Raiders sponsors have also verbally threatened to resign from any association with the club as the fallout from rugby league’s latest black-eye reverberates.

Additionally NRL CEO David Gallop is apparently raring to bar Monaghan from playing in Australia but waiting to let the Raiders go first.

But as Ian has noted in the comments, they are now the most well known Rugby League club in the world.

The rise of Mount Monaghan:

Mount Monaghan

And a welcome to all the new readers. It’s not always like this around here, but we hope you enjoy your stay and come back.

They can’t wait for Monday: The ABC reports that the Raiders are trying to convene their board meeting as soon as possible to resolve the issue.

The return of Wyatt Roy: The SMH reports that Wyatt Roy, the fake twitter account of whom kicked this all off, is trying to take action. Calling in some lawyers and hitting Twitter with a subpoena for a defamation case would be a good start.

Not without friends VexNews is cheerily noting that the Greens elder and famous ethicist, Peter Singer, is not unequivocally opposed.

Hiding out: The SMH is pushing the “it was only simulated sex” line while revealing Mr. Monaghan is hiding out on the South Coast.

It’s not that bad? Peter FitzSimons is also going with a stupid but not evil defence.

Not buying it: In the Murdoch press Rebecca Wilson is not having a bar of the Monaghan apologists.

Doesn’t it make you proud? Canberra makes the Top Trending Topics show:

So now the big question is whether the NRL or the Raiders are going to have the guts to take action against the players that actually committed an illegal act by recording and transmitting the act.

fat chance.

Given the ACT Governments inability to draft laws, are you *sure* that it is actually illegal to take and distribute the photo? Remember – The ACT is the porn capital of Australia!

Correct me if I’m wrong (especially if it takes another 28 posts) but, my understanding is that it would come under Federal law.

For what it’s worth – I just spoke to a friend of mine who works for the AFP dealing with kiddie prrn, and they indicated that they didn’t believe it was illegal – Possibly we need to add that to the books as well.

And Furner clearly does not get it

“Joel is welcome back at this club and I hope he does come back one day,” Furner said.

“I hope he is welcome back in Canberra because he has done a lot of good in this city.

“He’s had to pay a very high price for a silly party prank at a private house.”

According to Google Trends, Joel Monaghan is responsible for the most recent surge of interest in dog sex, and also searches for the Canberra Raiders.
Joel Monaghan is apparently actually more popular than dog sex (for which he is now the posterchild, anyway).

In addition, Joel Monaghan is almost as popular as anal sex.
However, he is more newsworthy than anal sex, dog sex, and the Canberra Raiders combined.

That’s quite an achievement.

The spin out of raider land is that you can’t tell for sure if he’s got wood or if it’s actually in the dog’s mouth.

And without an x-ray or some sort of tonsil cam they’re right.

On the other hand anytime balls see daylight I reckon it’s not a simulation.

Maybe not a coincidence – maybe they have recognised the need for an urgent campaign to tell people not to put their dick in a dog’s mouth.

Oh my that is an inciminating photo!!!

It is very sad that people see this as the worst thing a footballer could do. but sadly a lot of people blame the women when they are attacked by footballers.

Even the worst football-rape-denialists can’t claim that the dog was only doing it for the money and fame, or that the dog asked for it by being a groupie, or having a drink, or that the dog got what it deserved etc etc.

Not to mention the pic can’t really be explained away – no way the dog is lying and making things up .

#244 – sports minister is saying the pic is Not funny.

Does this mean that this dog will now get a boob job, suddenly change to a bright orange colour and start appearing on TV and in magazines?

By the way, I have to agree with the previous comments about how appalling it is that this incident is suddenly being held up as the worst thing that any League player has ever done – as if all the violent assaults, rapes and gang bang incidents never happened.

Most half-decent, hardworking people I know do a hell a lot more for the advancement of society than any of these knuckledragging scum will ever do, and earn a fraction of the money that is paid to these idiots too.

The scary thing is, how many other sports ‘stars’ are shaking in their shoes hoping that similar images of them will not come to light????

Federal Sports Minister condones beastiality?

Straight from twitter:

“Twitter is making me feel like the Fun Police today- am i alone in not finding the Joel Monaghan incident even remotely funny??”

It’s funny Kate, but not how we know it.

QUOTE
The recollection had reminded him of the time he was part of an Australian squad preparing for the 1999 World Cup final against France. “We had one of those video conferencing systems where players could talk to and see their wives and kids back in Australia. Any way, in the week before the final, Phil Kearns, who had been injured and had returned home, was using one to send us a good-luck message.

“He was talking to the guys and when he walked into shot it was obvious that he had no shirt on. I thought he just had no top on but his wife, who was holding the video camera, panned down to reveal that Phil was stark naked. Better than that, his dog – he had a big Alsatian – then walked over, nudged him in the nuts and started licking. I’ve never seen anything like it.

“We found out afterwards that Phil had rubbed jam or honey into his groin to get his dog to do that on cue. It was his way of settling down the squad who were really tense and worried at the final coming up.”

There’s nowhere to go after that.

Anyone else listen to 104.7 this morning? they were doing everything just short of defending his actions, trying to make him out like a great bloke that made a single ‘mistake’.. who are they kidding?

I realise that 104.7 probably has a working (financial) relationship with the Raiders.. but seriously.. they need to draw the line somewhere with their commercial support.

I think Amanda is onto something here – it’s not just about whether they were all egging him on. Every Raider who was there who is keeping quiet is just looking out for himself. I’d be worried about his state of mind – if this doesn’t make hm a suicide risk, what would? Can anyone imagine what his life is going to be like for the next 5 to 10 years. A few mates sharing responsibility would help him a lot, not to mention accepting their share of responsibility. But we won’t be seeing any of them have the courage to do it, will we?

Matty Johns had to bare the front of the sex scandal that involved other people, I would say Monaghan will have to do the same.

Pre season, mid season, end of season scandals, nothing new in the world of rugby league I’m afraid.

Shall we place bets on which club will be embroiled in a pre season scandal in 2011?

Legislation to re-establish the offence of bestiality is currently being drafted by the government and it is planned to be introduced into the Legislative Assembly in December. If passed, the ACT law will be broader in its application than most other Australian jurisdictions, because any sexual activity between a person and an animal would be an offence under the Act.

Does that mean the new, broader, offence will be called Monaghaning? Can’t wait to read the explanatory statement!

Will it be called ‘Monaghan’s Law’?

There is no law to prosecute the stupid. Alcohol, footballers and mobile phones just don’t mix well.

Also, he’s obviously crazy who would let a dog near their junk, it’s likely it would bite and rip it off.

P.S the photo isn’t bad, you’ve never seen a kid tongue kiss an animal before? When did Australians turn into people who need to be enraged by footballer antics…grow up. It’s sick, it’s disgusting, it’s a footballer..get over it.

We don’t NEED to be enraged, some of us just are. You think we should just proclaim that an act like this is acceptable so long as the parties involved are footballers, because you can’t expect the same standards of human behaviour from them as anyone else? I don’t care who they are or what they do or how much they’re paid to do it … its wrong.

How can you draw a parallel between a dog slobbering on a kid’s mouth and this photo/act? Plenty of nan’s plant a peck on their grandsons’ mouths at Christmas, but I’m pretty sure they don’t kiss them on their ‘junk’, let alone get the ladies at the CWA to take photos of them doing it and publish them in the annual newsletter along with their scone recipes. Are you really saying this is just a dog being friendly and anyone who is offended should broaden their minds and grow up? If you feel okay with it, fine, but other people in the community are obviously not okay with it and just as entitled to say so.

It’s a pity that this will haunt him for the rest of his life, and yet, having said that he didn’t drive while drunk, didn’t run away from crashes, didn’t beat anyone up.

Hopefully this sorry and quite repulsive episode is something he can put behind him later in life as an unbelievably stupid stunt.

And kudos to his so called ‘mates’ who let the photo be released.

PS: Lets all hope he keeps his wits about himself, and doesn’t consider doing anything terminally stupid.
Even if he’s something of a pariah and has a media profile so tainted its toxic, buy the man a beer and let him speak his mind.

Better people have done worse and survived, worse people have made comebacks, and he didn’t break any laws other than those of nature.
But it might be a good time for him to consider doing charitable works in Africa or South America for a few years.

Sorry for the double post but I also understand after talking to a few Raiders fans today that they believe the real problem wasn’t what Monaghan was doing to a dog but rather the fact that someone has posted a picture him doing it to the media. Surely the scale of offences here would be:

worst offender – Monaghan; and
Second worst – idiot with camera thinking it was funny.

I don’t have a problem with the pic being sent to the media because yet again, someone being held up as a ‘role model’ for kids has been exposed as anything but.

johnboy said :

Always the chance for him overseas, I’m not aware of him having any convictions? So unlike Carney he shouldn’t have trouble getting a working visa, whether any club would sign him is another matter though.

Sadly, the Raiders seem to be retreating behind the barricades upsetting some kids in teh process.

They’ve now cancelled an appearance at our school fete planned for Saturday 13th Nov.

I have to say though, while what Monaghan did was disgusting, repulsive, sick etc I do hope he’s getting a lot of psychological support cause I’d suggest something like this could send you down some very dark and disturbing places in your own mind. Also his family, imagine what they’re going through.

Ethics and Conduct clauses are fairly commonplace in sporting contracts.
They are what allow sponsors to scream for heads and\or pounds of flesh, given that they are the ones putting up so much of the cash.

Summary termination
You acknowledge that [your Club] as employer, and the Game of Rugby as an entity could be commercially damaged by any impairment of public confidence in the honest and orderly conduct of matches and competitions or in the integrity and good character of players and other participants.
If you:
(a) do anything which may adversely affect, reflect upon or otherwise discredit the Game of Rugby, or any organisation auspiced by [your Club], squad, team, competition, tournament, sponsor, official supplier or licensee, including, but not specifically limited to, any criminal or otherwise illegal act or any act of dishonesty or fraud;
(b) breach the terms set out in this letter and do not remedy or take sufficient action to ensure resolution of the breach within 14 days of receipt of notice in writing from [your Club] requiring you to remedy the breach;
(c) breach the [Sporting Body]’s or (if any) [your Club]’s Code of Conduct or the [Sporting Body]’s Doping Bye-laws;
(d) repeatedly breach the terms set out in this letter;
(e) repeatedly breach the Laws or Rules of the Game relating to Foul Play or Player Misconduct; or
(f) assault, abuse, threaten or intimidate a referee or judge, whether on or off the field; or

then [your Club] may terminate your employment immediately without penalty other than the payment of all amounts due to you up to the date of termination.

I wonder what his partner feels about going seconds?

If Todd Carney’s the equivalent scale I’d tip Joel to win a Nobel Prize.

I imagine that if David Gallop could have pressed a button to explode Joel’s head it would have happened by now.

I’d be surprised if he plays in Australia again.

Does this mean he’ll have a Dally M and international player of the year award in 2012?

DISGRACED Canberra centre Joel Monaghan will be sacked by the club on Monday when the eight-member Raiders board convenes in the national capital.
The Daily Telegraph has learned at least four of the Raiders’ major sponsors have written letters to the club threatening to withdraw $1 million worth of revenue over the lewd photograph of Monaghan.

The development comes as NRL chief executive David Gallop continues to monitor the situation, with the game’s governing body extremely close to making the call to de-register Monaghan from playing rugby league in Australia.

Career over.

Has he signed with the Roosters yet?

The genie’s out of the bottle for the most obvious perpetrator – but this apparently happened at a team party – maybe a “bonding session”. I think the whole team should take the rap if they were all there and no-one intervened to stop this! Sure, the wider issues will be raised – but I think they are ALL a bunch of cowards, particularly the photographer, for not fronting up along with JM.

You’re joking right?

They should front up because their mate is a dog fu#ker?

I don’t know about you, but if one of my mates was doing something like this i’d be keeping well clear.

Or if this was as they say, a “simulated” act, then the most they can be accused of is having very poor taste in humour.

But they weren’t keeping well clear – at least two of them were taking photos (one who took photo seen in this post, other to the left of Joel, phone camera aimed at Joel and dog). At least this one photo (if not more) was distributed by at least one of his ‘mates’ (if not more). This was then received by other people (how many, we don’t know) who forwarded it, and in turn those recipients forwarded it again, and so forth.

The only reason they can ‘stand well clear’ is that there is no proof as to who else was involved (if it became the focus of legal action, this of course, could be sorted out). Ignoring this incident itself, I would have thought that as ‘mates’ they wouldn’t let Joel stand alone in this. What kind of mate let’s another mate take this much heat for something something they were party to, they no doubt found mindlessly amusing, and did nothing to stop?

Perhaps you’re right – if I’d stood by and did nothing to stop something like this from happening, I’d be too ashamed with myself to front up and associate myself with the whole sordid thing. I’d also be ashamed to call myself a ‘mate’ of anyone I wouldn’t stand alongside no matter what.

I can’t even imagine the shame and humiliation he’s feeling right now. He’ll be sacked from the Raiders, which will probably end his career. Hopefully – for his sake – he’s invested his money wisely throughout his career.

Could I propose the ‘Dog Bone’ award: held by that person who causes the largest increase in hits to The-RiotAct in a given year. There may be some conjecture about who that might be in a given year, so maybe a judged award?

It would complement the Mully: awarded on the basis of numbers of comments.

It’s sad to see that one (highly dishusting) act of complete stupidity is likely to have ruined Joel’s life. I would think it’s unlikely that he’ll continue playing. Even if the Raiders keep him on, imagine running out onto the field to the kind of chants he would cop every time.

Now that it’s a worldwide story, there’s little chance he’ll ever escape from under the shadow this has cast.

I hope he’s got an alternate career path to fall back on.

The only good thing likely to to come of this is a change to the local legality of relationships with animals, either by adding a relvant section to either the Crimes Act 1900, Criminal Code 2002, or Animal Welfare Act 1992, courtesy of the RSPCA.
Which is evidently long overdue.

(Ideally it would be accompanied by a change to the tone of NRL’s annual Monday Madness and overall player behaviour, but I’m expecting just some kind of “When it is inappropriate to take pictures of yourself\mates” policy guidance or “Its okay to like domestic pets and other animals, but just enjoy them from a distance or touch them respectfully” sessions from the NRL…)

I really hope that the club imposes some form of sanction on all the players who failed to stop this act of absolute idiocy. There should be some sort of duty of care here.

It is bad enough that he thought it would be funny/a good idea or whatever, but, for no other player to suggest that perhaps it wasn’t a good idea, or worse, encourage this behaviour is reprehensible.

If it was indeed a prank %u2018lolz im in ur housez doin ur dog%u2019(WMC) the person taking the photograph should receive a similar sanction to that that will be imposed on Monaghan.

And, it looks like you can be guilty of bestiality (or, what I think they can get done for, publication of indecent material) by compelling another to have sex with a dog.

Osland v R [1998] HCA 75: “But in other cases, it is more accurate to describe the actual perpetrator as a non-responsible agent, rather than an innocent agent. Thus, in R v Bourne a husband was held guilty of bestiality after compelling his wife to have sexual intercourse with a dog. The husband was guilty even though his wife was never charged, presumably because the duress meant that she was not guilty of the offence.”

The act degrades and shows complete disrespect for animals. This type of image violates the trust we receive from our pets and it is an act that should be made illegal in the ACT immediately.

Animal sex is a crime everywhere except here. Why? I really don’t have the slightest clue. Maybe we overlooked it when drafting laws, considering it ‘the lust we dare not mention’.

As I pointed out at in Comment #6:

As a ‘normal’ teenager growing up with ‘normal’ mates in the 70s (not the sofcock metro types living in today’s apartments) I can entirely sympathise with some aspects of the predicament that Joel has found himself in. He can blame the digital age for the scale of his problems though, especially the unthinking dickwad who distributed the photo.

If half of what my extended group of friends did had been captured by digital cameras and distributed on an internet, there would be several fewer policemen, lawyers and senior public servants around today. Sure, we didn’t do anything quite as morbidly obscene as this act but a lot of what we did would be considered antisocial by the pc brigade today. Why did we do it? Not because we had any innate leanings towards doing stupid things, but because we were in a group of young males where the stupider the action the more cred we got, albeit only temporarily.

So before all you oh so righteous types crucify this man, just stop and consider that the type of man who has the credentials to be a top grade rugby league player will more often than not have the genes that will make him go just a bit further than the rest to achieve cred with his ‘mates’. It’s human nature.

Then you can crucify him.

I tend to believe him when he stated it was a prank gone wrong. I am sure it seemed damn funny at the time. Who knew that your good mates would take a photo AND SHARE IT with the world and destroy your reputation and career?

I feel sorry for him. He is an idiot but I feel sorry for him.

New spokesman for the Million Paws walk?

These football clubs really really need to get their acts together and so some serious mentoring of their teams. Bringing young country guys to the city and then entrusting them to older gangs of team mates who get tanked and act like this just perpetuates this ridiculous behaviour.

There must be some way of making them take their million dollar contracts a bit more seriously.

Sherlock Holmes and the Curious Case of the Hound of the Dickervilles.

Dear Mr Furner,

Guess that would make it Puppytry of the Penis.

I’m hardly condoning Joel M’s decision to get a gobby off Goldie the labrador, but I do feel sympathy for the silly man. The twitter feed on the subject went berserk, his reputation’s been trashed in the national media, he’s issued a grovelling apology via his club, everybody’s talking about it and everybody’s swapping (I must say often very funny) jokes about man-dog love. I acknowledge he should’ve considered the consequences before his so-called mates reached for their 4g phones, but it’s turning into a systematic, co-ordinated public humiliation %u2026 so top marks to Joel Monaghan for stupidity, but maybe the punishment is worse than the crime in this case.

And I’m fascinated by this male-bonding stuff. These men seem to be in a culture where the booze fuels increasingly outrageous stunts as a way of building cred with one another. Their ‘mates’ stand around with their cameras to capture the magic, then betray one another when they hit pay-dirt. It makes me wonder what other stunts these characters get up to on camera and which don’t see the light of day.

PS PantsMan and creative_canberran – on the subject of John Hopoate %u2026 I think Warwick Hatfield of the ABC had the best joke %u2026 “well, he certainly brought the game into the digital age!” Gold!

I am sure there will be a marked increase of ‘green waste’ in the capital.

You wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a Raiders jersey.

Just as well a Qantas plane blew up last night, not a mention of it in the news this morning.

And you are all soooo certain Monaghan – to quote JB – “had his dick in a dog”.

Rather than an equally plausible scenario: “Hey guys, how about we stage this photo for a prank?”

Drunken guys on Mad Monday might just do such things.

But since JB got a spike in hits, it’s all OK. Ruining Monaghan’s life’s a mere byproduct.

Even with photography, context is everything. And with this pic JB from a Twitter stream we got none.

Now I know why NRL never took off in Tasmania. How is it that we have a Human Rights Act, but you can f*7k a dog!?! Are we going to get a statue of it? I’m going to write to Stanhope!

PS: Mully never f*&ked a dog.

A young man is walking through a small village one day and decides to stop by a bar and have a beer. He walks into a bar, and sees a grizzled old man, crying into his beer.
Curious, the young man sits down and says, “Hey old timer, why the long face?”
The old man looks at him and points out the window, “See that dock out there? One summer when I was 18, I built that entire dock with my own two hands, plank by plank, nail by nail, but did they call me Billy the dockbuilder? No.”
The old man continued, “And see that ship out there? I’ve been fishing these waters around my village since I was 35! But do they call me Billy the fisherman? No.”
The old man continued, “And see all the crops in the farms out there? I planted and have been farming those crops for my village since my wife died nearly 40 years ago! But do they call me Billy the farmer? No, no, no!”
“But if you f*ck just one goat…”

Oh come on! Stop jumping to conclusions.

It’s obvious that he was drunk and playing with the dog when he needed to have a piss. Unfortunatley he was so drunk that he fell over backwards and the dog, as dogs do, leapt upon him in glee.

Surely it’s obvious. Surely????

“It%u2019s very disappointing; he appears to have been subjected to a bit of tomfoolery by some teammates,” said Monaghan%u2019s manager, Jim Banaghan.
“One of his teammates has taken a picture of it and it%u2019s been passed around.”

I don’t really see how it being Mad Monday makes it any better.

Are we meant to take the statement as “Well, as every seasoned player knows, sometimes after playing rugby for a tough season you just need to kind of let off some steam, get really pissed, a fuck a dog while your teammates watchie: an alternative method of team bonding or are we meant to take it as a “Nobody was meant to take photos, so he’s really a victim here…” shifting of blame onto the photographer?

Also, did the picture get taken in Canberra (where its apparently not a crime), or was it in another State (ie: Queanbeyan, where its actually a crime)?
Do we have a comment from the RSPCA?

#66 is far more offensive than the Erin Molan thing.Sexual assault is not funny.
