The National Capital Authority (NCA) advises that if you’re looking for a cheap yet romantic valentine’s day option you could do worse than heading to Apsen Island to hear the bells ring out:
The concert has been an annual event held on 14 February since 2002. This year’s recital will feature carillonists Susan Antcliff and Lyn Fuller performing a range of romantic songs from 7pm to 8pm. The concert theme this year is ‘duos’.
NCA Exhibition Facilities Manager, Seona Doherty said the concert is a prominent event in Canberra’s event calendar.
“Aspen Island is one our most popular venues for weddings on national land. 88 couples were married on the island last year.
“Many people celebrate St Valentine’s Day by returning to the site where they made their wedding vows.
“We also receive a number of wedding bookings each year for Aspen Island from people who became engaged at the Valentine’s Day concert,” said Ms Doherty.
Everyone is invited to bring along a rug and some refreshments to enjoy this special concert at the National Carillon.
