As if to prove that no idea is too stupid to be expressed on the internet, my attention has been drawn to one moronic Paul Edwards who has blogged an open letter to the President of China asking Hu Jintao to safeguard Australian human rights by dropping the big one here in Canberra.
While that idea is stupid enough, the reasoning is an absolute doozy. Paul is very impressed that the Chinese have a written commitment to free speech, despite many conversations in China (in my experience) ending with the phrase “this is a dangerous subject”. Paul would like a similar protection of free speech in Australia and would like the Chinese to bring it here on the end of a nuclear spear. Outraged at erosions of free speech in Victoria he thinks a foreign nuke on the only jurisdiction in Australia with a Bill of Rights (however useless ours may be) is the solution.
An easier way to fix Paul’s concerns with the actions of State Governments would be for Paul to down a pint of drain cleaner.
Paul’s way:
– Bodycount = 300,000
– Human Rights = Chinese grade
RiotACT’s way:
– Bodycount = 1
– Human Rights = Australian grade
I think we can all see the path of reason here can’t we?
