Now in its 36th year, The Kamberra Wine Company Black Opal Stakes is Canberra’s premiere race day showcasing the excitement of racing and the glamour of fashion in the Capital.
With an eight race program featuring three major races and a prize pool totaling $450,000 the day is contested by top trainers both locally and interstate. Three local horses to watch will be Gratz Vella’s You’re Canny, Neil Osborne’s Strike Alert and the Magic Millions Winner, Karuta Queen trained by Neville Layt.
Former Miss Universe Australia and MYER Ambassador, Laura Dundovic will set the standard for fashion as the Kamberra Wine Company Black Opal Stakes. Local fashionista’s will flaunt their Black and White best in this year’s themed MYER Fashions on Fields.
This year’s grand prize for the Classic Ladies Racewear section is a$3000 Travel Voucher, $500 cash, a weekend for two to Lake Crackenback Resort and a $200 Laser Clinics Australia voucher. Categories in the Myer Fashions on the Field competition include Classic Ladies Racewear, Millinery Competition, Classic Mens Racewear, Classic Couples Racewear and the Millinery Award.

The Kamberra Black Opal Stakes is on Sunday 13 March 2011 with gates opening from 11am. Adult tickets $25, Aged pensioners $5 and children under 18 free. Tickets are available at the gates.
