CityNews, how it works

‘Strategic’ has to be the most annoying word. My boss uses it approximately 30 times per meeting. Aargh. It’s meaningless.

Maybe women in the real estate business might find this CityNews advertising useful. Because real estate ads are one of the few useful things in CityNews. But women in other kinds of business might find it more useful to pay for advertising where their target market are reading.

Sorry che, I actually shoulda known better. What can I say, other than “It’s Friday!” 🙂

Are you really that stupid Stan? I mean you’ve said countless unbelievably bone headed things about advertising here, (Hey well done, in part your negativity looks like paying off!) but this really takes the cake.

Firstly: this is the web, extra pages do not take up a proportion of a finite number of available pages. Therefore the number of pages in the article is not relevant. If you do not understand this then shutup. Seriously.

Secondly: A positive article AFTER a one-off event has the sales value of tits on a bull.

Thirdly: Why we did it? Because everyone who went to the ball trawled through thirteen pages of adviews to get there. Everyone who knew someone at the ball did likewise (and in this town that’s pretty much everyone). Also everyone who wanted to see what the fuss was all about or just see the pretty pictures.

Unlike CityNews or the Canberra Times we have to go out and earn our eyeballs from scratch every single day and a story with lots of pictures of Canberrans all dressed up and having a good time is this little thing we call POPULAR. And we need more of it.

Like the positive story with 13 pages of pictures about the Jesters Ball? I’m sure it was a great event, but isn’t that fairly blatant promotion of an advertiser?

Don’t forget the excitement of reading Jorian Gardner’s “political” “reporting” (I love how he has two headshots — one with a tie to show he’s a serious reporter, and one without for the arts pages.)
