See the big green bit on the bottom left, that’s Mt Stromlo & Stromlo Forest Park – which has been replanted. The yellow bits are the new suburbs of Molonglo – currently most of the area slated for suburbia is farmland.

Mt Stromlo is being replanted.

Molonglo is going to be the new town centre & suburbs (once they boot out the farmers).

Stromlo is being replanted with a new suburb. We’ve discussed this previously.

Stromlo is being replanted with natives, whereas I believe the arboretum will be planted with more exotic trees (yes, which could be sold off in the future). The new plantings at Stromlo, and I expect the new trees at the arboretum, are being watered with semi-treated water from the Stromlo water treatment works.

Stuff that – if govco is going to spend money on a bunch of trees, let’s grow cedars and rare hardwoods so the next generation can sell the wood. We’ll never pay taxes again… BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Here’s a radical idea – why don’t we find out what grew in the area NATURALLY before all the clearing, and plant it? Then it won’t need a lot of pampering/water after it is established, and it will keep the native wildlife happy.

Preferably ornamental oaks, birches, maples etc etc. That would be good.

No ugly natives, please.

who’s going to water all these trees so they don’t die, and with what???????
