A Dunlop man will be summonsed to court after allegedly being found in possession of a range of drugs in the city overnight.
CCTV operators allege they saw a man taking drugs in Garema Place, Canberra City, at about 12:30 am (23 December).
Officers searched the man and said they discovered a “significant quantity” of drugs and cash, including:
- 14 Diazepam tablets
- 32 LSD patches
- 4 clip-seal bags of suspected cocaine
- 1 clip-seal bag of suspected heroin
- 1 Xanax tablet
- 1 Modafinil tablet
- 1 container of THC chewables
- $440 cash.
While legislation was passed earlier this year to decriminalise small amounts of illicit drugs, it doesn’t come into effect until October 2023.
It remains a criminal offence to possess illicit or pharmaceutical drugs without a prescription.
