This week’s The Hoot podcast ventures into racy territory on several counts as Ross and Genevieve discuss V8 supercars and the release of Barbie.
We’re starting with the serious things, though. There’s still no date for the Voice referendum, and the polling doesn’t look good for the Albanese government. But did they make a fundamental mistake with the entire proposal?
Would there have been easier ways to get this done – and if so, what’s the political cost of losing a referendum on which so many hopes have been pinned?
Listen on other platforms:
The proposal to bring V8 supercars back to Canberra has been squarely knocked on the head by Chief Minister Andrew Barr, who says the plans for a new track don’t add up.
But are we at risk of Canberra’s old-school snobbery derailing a good idea? Summernats brings enormous benefits to the city and has shown in recent years that it’s possible to change, so is it time to give V8 racing another go?
And the world is gripped by Barbie mania, AKA a gigantic, world-beating marketing campaign for Mattel. Ross and Genevieve are divided on this one: Ross thinks the movie’s message is worthwhile, while Genevieve is grumpy about the commercial overkill.
So, who got kitted out in pink to go off to the cinema?
