Police have arrested and charged a man allegedly involved in an early morning arson attack on a Braddon tattoo studio.

ACT Policing said ACT Fire and Rescue was called to the fire at the Eloura Street business at around 5:30 am on 19 June 2023.

“The fire was quickly extinguished and the scene indicated the fire had been deliberately lit,” police claimed.

The investigation used security camera footage to identify an aqua-coloured Toyota Celica that was believed to have been used in the incident.

This car had been stolen the day before from a home in Macgregor and was later found abandoned in Braddon.

As a result of their investigations, police arrested a 28-year-old man in Fyshwick on Thursday (24 August) and he was charged with arson and taking a motor vehicle without consent.

He did not apply for bail when he appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday and the matter was adjourned to later in the month.

Police are continuing to investigate the arson incident.
