The ABC reports that ANU has chosen Bush Week to name Kim Beazley their chancellor.

A nice way to push for extra funding methinks.

Remember that it’s the Vice-Chancellor who actually runs the uni.

Glad I graduated before a Laborite got the post!

Even I have a soft spot for Bomber.

: )

Ah, come on. Own up to it. Everyone has a soft spot for Bomber, the man who would be king.

I’m quite open about being fond of Bomber; I don’t care how uncool it is to say so. Good luck to him.

Pretty sure it’s the V-C’s place NickD.

Just to refresh my memory, is it the Chancellor or Vice-Chancellor who gets the very nice house on ANU grounds near the lake? (accross the road from the rather odd underground document storage centre).

Ceremonial, huh? That sounds like my kind of job!

I guess the local fast food joints will be cheering when he is in town

Only a ceremonial role, probably as ceremonial as his PhD!

Seems like a good choice to me. I’m suprised that Kim would want a largely ceremonial role like this though given he’s not that old.

Too bad he doesn’t start until 2009. It would nice to shake Bomber’s hand when I graduate at the end of the year. The current chancellor is so short that he needs to stand on a small stool when giving PhD students their degrees otherwise he can’t reach far enough to bestow their doctoral drapery. No stool will be required for the big fella!

oh, wait.

what do they think this is?

Bush week?

ROFL

so… where will he live? close to the lodge?

hwahahahahaaaaa!

sorry, just think it is a classic. closest he got to the lodge.

What a freakin joke!

How sweet…
