Over the past 3 years participants in Fitz’s Challenge have raised around $100,000 dollars to fund research in Childhood Cancer. In recognition of this Peter Neilson CEO of The Kids’ Cancer Project (TKCP) & will present an award to John Armstrong, Pedal Power’s Executive Officer.

The presentation will take place at Stromlo Forest Park, the Start/Finish point for Fitz’s Challenge. This year’s event will take place on Sunday 28 October, with $1,000’s more being raised for TKCP. John Armstrong commented “Fitz’s Challenge is great event with range of rides designed to challenge to challenge the endurance of every participant; young, old, male or female. That these
riders can not only test themselves but also raise such a fantastic sum for the Kid’s Cancer Project just makes putting the event on all the more worthwhile. I would encourage every bike rider in Canberra to give it a go, and whilst they do consider raising money for this enormously deserving cause.”

Peter Neilson CEO of The Kids’ Cancer Project said “Cancer is still the biggest killer of Australian children with an average of 3 children a week losing their battle. Over the last 7 years, through the efforts of fundraisers such as these Canberrans cyclists, we
have provided around $12 million towards research into childhood cancer and brought treatments for two of the most common and most deadly forms of childhood cancer, brain tumours and neroblastoma, significantly closer.”

Entries for this year’s Fitz’s challenge (on Sunday 28 October), which has ride options from 50km to 255km, are still open. Go to www.fitzs.com.au to enter.

grrrr you must have missed the bit about hating hills (yes growing up in tasmania sucked for this young cyclist)

Jase – why not do both? Even better, do the Gong Ride the weekend after and make it a hat-trick!

For the keen, you can book-end the road rides with some MTB Enduros – the Scott 24 Hour this weekend out at Stromlo, and then the Rosewhite 12 Hour on the 10th November..

good luck with it guys, I hate hills so will be going to melbourne for the around the bay ride supporting the smith family the weekend before
