A bag named Canberra

We reported back in March on the Victorinox Canberra laptop bag, but for those parochial, fashion-loving women out there I have discovered the Anya Hindmarch Canberra

Anya Hindmarch is a UK designer who has come to prominence recently for her “I’m not a plastic bag” bag, which has been seen on the arms of numerous celebrities and is the latest It fad if you believe the glossies.

Her Canberra is a plaited leather tote, available in white or gold for just £455 (or £475 for the metallic version).

While the bag looks roomy enough for all the essentials every girl carries with her (and, indeed big enough for the notepad this girl always has on her) and it is a lot more fashionable than its Victorinox namesake, I’m not totally sold on hte plaited leather look.

Any thoughts?

I reckon it doesn’t look bad. But the price is just stupid. You see some horrendous bags with crazy prices on them.

I adore Spencer & Rutherford bags. I like to drool at shop windows. Can’t afford to get close enough to drool over the real thing. And they’re still less than half the price of the plaited leather bag in the pic above.

This bag is hideous. Although it looks slightly better in white, if anybody bought me that bag it would just go under my bed along with the rest of the gross bags that seems to end up my way. The ‘Elrod’ is nice though.

I love the bag I have at the moment, I can fit so much stuff into it. Although i’d take a ‘Beverly XXL’ by Louis Vuitton anyday. Only £850!

I have a few bags around, and I’m always looking for the ‘perfect’ bag. I can’t see paying that amount of money for another failed attempt no matter how pretty/stylish/etc one is.

That one isn’t any of the above. Even etc.

I don’t like the plaited leather look either. If you’re going to have a leather bag, plain black or brown is the only way to go.

At the moment though, I’m quite liking bright retro-patterned OiOi carry-alls. Possibly because they hide stains and hold lots of stuff. And the one I’m eyeing off today is only AUD$90.

ugly piece o crap innit

Fashion is a costly endeavour (or so I hear).
