A Bit of Noise on Easter Monday/ANZAC Day

I live in the Monarch building (Northbourne, just before Macarthur) very loud noise this morning woke me up and then a very loud fire alarm convinced me to go outside. Went out, to get the CT and have sneaky look about, when I saw smoke drifting past. Rushed over to the defence building next door and found 2 guys struggling to get a massive recycling bin back under a sprinkler that had gone off.

It was a cardboard recycling skip that someone must have set alight and then handily closed the lid so that the sprinkler above it couldn’t do much but keep the lid from melting. The sprinkler above the skip was putting out an awful lot of water out at pretty high pressure so the three of us got a good drenching as we opened the lid and put the skip back under the sprinkler.

A security guard in a ute showed up about 2 minutes after we had decided the job was done and the firies showed up about 2 minutes after that.

It is now over half an hour later and the alarm is still going off.
