A Christmas Carol reading at the Phoenix for charity

To celebrate Christmas, to remind people how fun being read to is, to appreciate a classic, and to raise some money for the Red Cross’s efforts in the Philippines, we’re going to do a reading of a special abridged version of A Christmas Carol which had been cut down by Dickens himself to be read publicly at Christmas.

The book will be read by local poetry wiz-kid Aaron Kirby with dialogue provided by local acting wiz-kid Alison McGregor and local “whatever” Joel Barcham… which is me obviously.

So come to the Phoenix, throw some gold coins into a jar, order yourself a whiskey and sit back and have a story read to you.

It’s quite a good story to, so if you’ve only ever experienced it through Christmas specials like the Muppets one (which is awesome), maybe it’s time you experienced the actual thing.

I’ll donate extra just to see Joel *not* take his clothes off.

But will they do it naked?

No, no I will not.

Oh come on, it’s for charity, and it’s Christmas, and people could do with a laugh. 😉

baah-cham, humbug!

I read it for the first time last Christmas – it really is as amazing as the Muppets Christmas Carol. My favourite bits were where Charlie started to get a little bit pervy in his descriptions of the ladies.

I will be there with bells on, demanding that we get to do the “Scrooge” sing-along at some point.
