Fancy a chat with Andrew Leigh? He’s gonna be leading a discussion/workshop about social capital later this month in New Acton.

A CONVERSATION WITH DR ANDREW LEIGH MP

How connected are we in our communities?

And how has this changed over time in Australia?

Is Canberra the insular, disconnected place it’s made out to be? Or is there more social capital here than meets the eye?
And how can we create more?

Andrew Leigh is a former professor of economics at the ANU and current federal member for Fraser, ACT. He has done extensive and influential research in the fields of labour economics, public finance, and political economy. In his book, ‘Disconnected’, he explores social capital in Australia, drawing on various data sources to look at what has been lost and what gained.

This evening discussion and workshop, presented by the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2), will explore the issue of social capital with Andrew and will ask participants to consider how social capital can be built here in the capital.
