A first for Webber

Overnight, in Germany, Queanbeyans Mark Webber took his first Formula One pole position.

He is the first Australian since Alan Jones [ED – not the talkback host] to achieve this.

Now hopefully he can hold out to bring home his first win.

You’d think he’d changed his first name by deed poll to “Australia’s” and made Mark his middle name, the way they go on about him on Ch10.

Cool! Now we can claim him as our own. That’s until he doesn’t come first in another race. Then he is Queanbeyan’s again.

I’ve been doing that for pretty much his entire F1 career. 😛

It’s either Canberra’s Mark Webber does well, or Queanbeyan lad fails again. Haha.

Woooooooo!!!!!!!!!

Mark Webber – You bloody ripper!!!

Even with the time penalty he still took the race quite comfortably!!!

Congratulations to him. He was the beneficiary of some good luck, for a pleasant change, and the executor of 59 flawless laps (the brain snap off the start, swerving into Barrichello, marred lap 1). I laughed to hear his “WOOOOOOO! FUCKING BEAUTY!” over the radio – it seems you can take the boy out of Queanbo, but…

Brilliant to hear the Aussie anthem playing in Germany as Mark Webber scores his first F1 win, and the first since Alan Jones.

Mark Weber was smoking Germany!

*****SPOILER ALERT*********

Mark has a huge crash on the last corner, Michael Schumacher wins race.

Only joking, but those that don’t have access to F1 Live Timing or One HD, you should be watching the coverage on SC10 anyway & not on RiotACT.

So congratulations to Mark Webber, after 8 years in Formula 1, you have had some of the worst luck, but have finally won a F1 race. That was even with the F1 stewards putting a barrier in for your first race win mid race, you still won.

Lovin’ the “local talent makes good on world stage” story.

But shiverin’ in antici…pation at when this great feat will be claimed as “evidence” in support of a local dragway.

I have been told that Webber has the best car in F1, & has just fully recovered from his leg injury

Here’s hoping he has some luck for a change and posts a win.

it’s more than luck, he is finally with a decent team and a decent car !

Very true, but the poor bugger has been thrown out to the edge by the very nature of F1, the talks of the renegade series forming is quite attractive, time to take the sport out the hands of one egocentric individual and let these guys play on a level field, the true drivers will emerge then.

Not saying Webber is the only one who can, just the level fields makes for good racing.

Waiting in hope it may happen one day

he’s got to get a leg up on Vettel, and break his dominance or end up being a no.2 driver, which he can’t afford after 7 years in F1.

A good night for Queanbeyan with Haddin’s ton as well.

Awesome news, wishing him the very best in this one, finally good to see him running in a car that works for him the way he wants, in my opinion he is one the better drivers in the paddock who can actually drive the car, not rely on the “assistances” the car carries.

When he finishes his career, he should come home and run for Chief Minister……..
