A Good Leather Fixer-Upperer in Canberra?

I have ripped my (very expensive) super-soft leather jacket.

The tear runs along both the seam and a little across the back (I imagine it would be rather tricky to fix).

Does anyone know where I might start looking to get it repaired?

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I adore this jacket and would hate to have to turf it.

Check with the tailor first – some don’t work on leather. Also check with a shoe repair shop – a lot of them work on other leather goods (jackets, purses, briefcases, etc.) as well as shoes.

I’m also looking for someone who can replace a torn panel in my leather jacket, I was hoping you could tell me the name of the place you have used in Sydney. Thanks 🙂

If jacket cannot be repaired try Blue Dolphin in Bali, most people have expensive item copied, he is very good, and I’m sure it would be much cheap than buying a new one, when he can copy the jacket at low prices.

There is a leather retailer upstairs at Woden, not far from Medicare near the paystation. I know they do repairs too.

The one youre thinking of is the Bungendore leather factory outlet, with their main shop being in its namesake. The Canberra outlet is upstairs from McDonalds, next to Revolution CD I believe. They also supply and make really nice sheepskin items too, as well as all sorts of leather goods and leather-care items.

Even though his specialty is shoes, definitely look at

JP Shoe Repairs?

They are a husband and wife team, with the gentleman starting his career in 1954.

He will happily look at anything made of leather and his shop is stocked with high grade leather for repairs requiring additions. His work is of precise and fine quality – I’m very impressed and have fussy taste myself as I wear leather shoes, soles, jackets and bags.

Best of all he works like a Trojan – usually 8am to 7pm and has a habit of turning things around same day or overnight.

I agree Bonnie is an excellent leather worker. However, unfortunately, she is unable to work at present due to illness.

Jim Gray of Jim’s Leathercraft. 6254 6878. MacGregor aree I think. fantastic work.

Try a lady named Bonnie , at ADANAC LEATHERWORK
Her numbers are 6241-2243 or Mob 0427-002-418.

She has a workshop in Kaleen. She fixed up my leather jacket last winter. Mine was not ripped but it had been scratched and was loosing some of it’s colour. She fixed it up and it is like new again. It come to about the 3rd of the price of buying a new jacket too.

Try Arpelle at Brand Depot, they have (or at least used to) a leather jacket repair service.
