A good political slogan?

A friend of mine, John Barilaro, is running for Queanbeyan City Council and has come up with the following political slogan:-

‘No slogan! Just hard work for our community’

I thought that was a ripper.

I have suggested to Gary Kent, a candidate for Molonglo, who stands at 160cm, that his slogan should be:-

‘Gary Kent – Standing tall for Canberra’

He is a little hesitant.

So with the ACT Election just around the corner what are some other good political slogans for our pollies.

Or what slogan would best suit some of the candidates running?

UPDATED: I think we have a new contender in “Vote for me, I’m Guilia with a G”

Hey George

Why don’t you come clean and let everyone know that you are part of the Elect Gary Kent Kampaign. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6769991523

Interesting that you are promoting someone that single handedly destroyed the liberal party in the ACT and then you promote Giulia with a G. Giulia with a G (from Tassie)is about as bad as Frank (I hate Canberra) Pangallo running here.

Why don’t we ship in some more out of state candidates. AT least the Labor party candidates are from here and actually care about the ACT.

Mike Jeffries, 2CC, covered this story and said he got it from a blog but didn’t mention RiotACT.

BTW….Helen Cross won as a Liberal but failed last time to win as an Independent.

It’s a shame that the time she won she just defeated Manuel Xyrakis of Ainslie IGA fame who whould have been a much better member of the Assembly.

Ha! Is that why he’s called “Sonic”?

Is that “Giulia with a G” ad actually on telly? I haven’t seen it.

Jakez, I was under the impression that Helen Cross never got elected in her own right but came in after a countback following a retirement (First Carnell, then Humphries).

Funny you should bring that up, there was mention of just that slogan and a comment made by JB (i think?) on a blog, this morning on Mike jeffries breakfast show. i was only half listening, missed the whole story.

shouldn’t he just go with the lesser-ink using ‘vogt 1’?

or ‘vogt for me’

or ‘vogt the hell are you thinking? pick me!’

I would seriously hope that its the Candidates policy platform and personal presence that gets them elected rather than a slogan, but i’m also well aware that when it comes down to the polls that its all about name recognition.

fyi, i understand Norvan is going with Vote 1 Vogt (pronounced ‘vote’) this time round.

Gary Kent needs to leverage his assets:

“Never start a land war in Asia!”

Vote for me I’m Sandra Dee
and rob me of my virginity…

Oh sorry, that was Grease, the Directors Cut.

Oh my!

Of course Cameron….that’s what makes the slogan so effective and catchy.

Stanhope: not your average hedgehog

How about “Keeping the Bastards Honest”? The Dems aren’t using it, maybe someone else could.

Bogans don’t need slogans.

Is greener better?

How about for Frank Pangallo – “The Grass is always Greener in Canberra”. And I am not talking about Griffith, NSW grown ‘grass’….or am I?

zed:’please vote for me, I have nice manners.’

Norvan Vogt had “Vote Vogt” for the Democrats in the federal election.
Would be great to see that slogan re-used for the ACT election.
Recycling in action!

Matthew Watts in Ginninderra is running with “Watts the right choice!”

It was market-tested in the Pot Belly.

Let’s hope the shameless drunks can read the voting forms. If they don’t piss on them, of course.

That was Jacqui Burke.

“It’s your choice, a new hope or Stanhope”

😉

She ran it the election before that and got in so…

Gary Kent has to go with that slogan, it’s too fantastic not to.

Just.. “Vote Z”

I thought Helen Cross’ slogan last election was pretty corny…. “Not a tick, not a cross, vote 1 for Helen Cross” or something to that effect.

Matthew Watts in Ginninderra is running with “Watts the right choice!”

It was market-tested in the Pot Belly.

You are of course aware that a slogan saying “No Slogan” is a slogan.
