Just discovered this on AllClassifieds. Gotta say that I’m impressed with the kindness of some folk and it’s nice to see something positive in this city every now and again.

I just emailed this fellow and thanked him for the service he is providing as not many others (myself included) could find the time to do it.

Good on ya mate!

Anyone know the bakeries contributing to this cause? It would be nice to give some support to the businesses that support our community.

this was on freecycle about 5 weeks ago…

BJ? 🙂

You might be luckier if you replace ‘byline’ with another word starting with B.

At least give me a byline. Selfish bitch!

Ahhh, Jessica getting more stories courtesy of RA. Shock me.

Sweet, maybe CT will offer me a job? Although her head’s a little better looking than mine. Either that or she’s lurking around here stealing stories again???

Looks like Papadoc broke this newsworthy story before Jessica Wright(http://the-riotact.com/?p=6370) from Today with Jessica Wright on the backpack of Canberra Times “Bread in deed”. This sounds like a very good deed indeed. Found yesterday on a local classified advertisement site online was the following post: “I do a bread run every Monday Evening. The fresh bread is collected from a local bakery and delivered to the government commissioned flats in Belconnen. Often there are lots of bread left over. these include fresh bread loaves, rolls, buns and some sweets.” It reads. “Blah blah blah” Further investigation reveals the good samaratin is Simon Ow, of Belconnen. “Initially it was advertised in my church’s bulletin.” he said. “I have always been passionate about community and poverty based issueds and I thought I would do what I could to help out.” To lend a hand or nominate a family or person in need contact Ow on 0422 265 937.

He was interviewed on 2CC Mike Welsh show this afternoon.

There’s a lot of excess bread around the place, and what this bloke is doing is trying to ensure it is all used. A lot of local pig farmers etc get the excess tip top and stuff, sounds like this is bakery bread and it’s great that the effort of baking it won’t be for nothing.

dude. oughta send that to ross solly’s breakfast show and i rekkun simon deserves every bit of great publicityhe gets from this – did you tell him about RA? actually, better not to..! ; )

It’s a great gesture. I came across that ad last week too but was just too slow to blog about it 😉

Oh man, we ran out of bread at breakfast this morning, why didn’t you post this up sooner. My salmon and poached eggs just wasn’t the same. Damn you papadoc, damn you!!!

Awww! What a sweetie!
Champion.

Good stuff. Anyone that does take advantage of such generosity deserves to be flogged.

I just hope no-one takes advantage of it.. in a negative way i mean.

Just got this reply…

Dear Tom,

Thank you for your encouragement. It’s difficult to do what I do and so your encouragement spurs me on.

Blessings,
