By popular request poptop has sent in these pictures of the remarkable Steve Irwin Ride as seen outside the Tuggeranong Hyperdome Woolworths in May 2007.

Slideshow below. I particularly like the “In memory” placque.

As with most of the store rides in Canberra, they seem to be moved around to give the “all-new” impression. This one was probably the same one that used to grace the walkway outside Roger David in Belco… (last I remember, there was a three-horse carousal there instead). (ie they are all owned by hire firms who pay for the space/privilege)…

BTW – How could anyone find a ten year old girl annoying? Especially one that is able to light up the eyes of the young folk and make them eager to learn about “aminals” (saw her at Australia Zoo last week, she’s a pretty special girl, and certainly earns her celebrity more than the likes of the other news story up in Brisbane at the moment – Paris!!!). If you don’t like her, there is always the option to turn ya telly of when she comes on (or lock the littlies up in a room with the telly should they insist on seeing her… against your “good taste”. If you have any question of where the Irwin’s hearts truly are (were in Steve’s case [RIP])- go to Australia Zoo in Beerwah… Whilst I was never a fan, I certainly have respect for him having seen the zoo… by the way – I suggest everyone go look at savestevesplace.com too – ’cause this is what our gummints will do without the likes of Steve…

Die Lefty Scum @ #21 and bd84 @ #18, oh yes, hell has a “special place” reserved for youse, crikey!!! ;-P (TIC)

is that also in the belconnen mall? :S

Is it wrong to wish Bindi was taken instead of Steve?

Only in Tuggeranong.

That plaque should read: “A Great Australian, an even better money-maker for us now that he’s dead and a freaky-ghost-ride warrior”

If it is raising money for wildlife conservation, then shuddup, dissers!!

Do we have a prize for THE most predictable post of the year?

I belive they do. Their tag line is “All the traction of fibreglass with less than a quarter of the shock absorbtion of regular tyres!”

Although, now that I think about it, I can’t lane filter in either, so I might keep my bike. Do they make “croc hunters” for bikes?

Yeah but hardly a comparable vehicle to a falcondore. I think I would prefer the fibreglass ‘cruiser :o)

Hang on a second, are we arguing over a fibreglass car!?! I didn’t realise Steve Irwin had his own tyre brand. I might pop into Bob Jane and pick up a set of croc hunters.

A Falcon or Commodore ute are both Australian built alternatives.

Doesn’t get more Australian then cars made by overseas companies. Just look at Ford and Holden.

BJ Steve. Sounds like a new mascot for the Brumbies.

Phht…Land Cruiser. how un-Australian.

this was/is in civic too. it is bloody awful!

I hope your kids are +15 years

My kids even call that ride “blow-job Steve”

Oh dear !

What were they thinking, even the man himself was still here. The facial expression belongs to something inflatable.

In Memory of Commercialism?

Did it have the squarking sound of the Common Bindi (Bindus Horridus) coming out of a speaker on it? 🙂
