They’re just a part of the sewage ecology.
A colony can sit at the waterline in a gel of their own making.
But when one reacts to stimuli, it sets off a chain reaction in its neighbours, so the entire colony seems to ‘pulse’.

Actually it looked a bit like what happens just before the sewer is involved.

Now I could be wrong, but I’m guessing that this actually a colonoscopy procedure!

And if so, this person is in really bad shape!

My guess is that this is inspection work on existing infrastructure around the new residential area on Cotter Road, adjacent to Stromlo Park.

Isn’t Birrigai, on Tidbinbilla Road? Or is there more then on Birrigai? Either way, I would have thought well outside the sewer network? Storm-water maybe?
