The ABC reports that the accused in the Downer Murders Scott Alexander McDougall has admitted he killed Struan Bolas, 48, and Julie Franco (aka Julie Tattersall), 35.

He has also admitted to committing the acts that caused their deaths with a wooden handled meat cleaver found inside the home.

He took the clothes he was wearing and dumped some of them in a rubbish bin.

McDougall also deliberately set fire to the residence, stuffing paper in a toaster and leaving it on hot plates that were later turned on.

Justice Gray is hearing the trial without a jury.

There will never be a shortage of murders. I guess it seems like there will be even less of a shortage of people to gossip about them on blog sites. Albeit a site I am fond of.

What’s the point of hanging around here if you’re not going to gossip about murderers?

Well was I right or was I right, there you go all you doubters, and it has made National News.
First murder charge in 13 years and never a double murder charge in the ACT, this has made history.
Judge Gray will be retiring in October when he turns 70, he will be going out with a double barrel BANG!

The last two comments these persons will be laughing on the other side of their faces, if I’m right, and I’m pretty sure I am lol

JB, is that a record? The first four-post nutbag?

I think she has merely equaled her personal best.

Maybe they will do the sums and add them up which would equal LIFE!

Ever thought that the evidence is overwhelming, and his defence had not much to go on, and were waiting to see which way they should go? Whoever heard of putting the accused on the stand, well he f…ed up!

Title: PSYCHOPATH

Sorry the author is still writing the book!

Ergo # 16

Not he’s not paying for it, the taxpayer is, I always thought that the victim or victim’s would have the extra councel, just makes you wonder, no suprisers why there hasn’t been a murder conviction in Canberra for over 12 years, JUST STINKS!

Add to taxpayers cost already the $499 a day it cost to keept this creature in the new canberra jail, with a bonus of having the additial luxories ie Barrister, Ken Archer and the QC Peter Hastings – Not too bad for a person who has just admitted to killing two people!

This may be a demonstration of my own ignorance, but I wouldn’t have thought you’d be able to get three lawyers, one a QC, as your state-supplied counsel? Surely he’d have to be paying for them himself…

can we get the spelling in the title of this thread altered to reflect the scum’s, err, sorry the defendent’s proper name?

is there a book yet on whether the killing or the arson will get him the longer porridge?

$499 per day – that’s cheaper than childcare…

Well, I think we all know where to send our kids, then…

WELCOME TO THE ACT WHERE THE DEFENCE DEFEND THEIR DEFENDERS!

I think you’ll find it’ll be the same in most civilised societies.

Trial really starts tomorrow, so the fur will start flying then!

I think it is a disgrace that this money is being spent on this psychopath as they say

WELCOME TO THE ACT WHERE THE DEFENCE DEFEND THEIR DEFENDERS!

Defence barristers defending alleged offenders. Who would’ve thunk it?

should be offenders!

Cheap at twice the price.

Dont’ know about that Wilco # 1

Makes you wonder about Canberra justice, he has a QC from Sydney Peter Hastings, a barrister and Ken Archer representing this monster, using all the tax payers money, how would you want a Psychopath out on the streets.

Add to taxpayers cost already the $499 a day it cost to keept this creature in the new canberra jail, with a bonus of having the additial luxories ie Barrister, Ken Archer and the QC Peter Hastings – Not too bad for a person who has just admitted to killing two people!

Next will he be invited to spend a night at the lodge for a three course meal at tax payers expense.

Mosty likely be convicted for manslaughter, and be lucky to serve 5 years in jail, if that!! What a joke!!!

He’s admitted killing them, but hasn’t pleaded guity to murder, and the defence counsel hasn’t presented arguments yet, so Wilco might be right

hence the looming.

Is this the same Scott McDougal that grew up in Wanniassa?

“A murder conviction looms as Scott Macdougal admits killings”.

Don’t count your chickens …
