A Night of Classic Metal is an epic show featuring the best classic metal — from Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Dio, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Rainbow, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, and more (a HUGE show of 3 hours + of classic metal) — presented by Canberra band, Live Evil.

As well as featuring the rousing anthems, shredding guitar solos and indulgent drum solos of classic heavy metal, A Night of Classic Metal will pay tribute to the the many other glories of classic metal: from cut-off denim jackets with backpatches worm with tight jeans and huge white sneakers, to bottles of warm, foamy bourbon and coke drunk covertly in parking lots.

5th Feb, ANU Bar, doors at 8pm, $15 entry.

A top night had by all, I was blown away by how good the singer was and how tight the band was. Aside from the weird irishman with a mouth full of teeth who would not leave us alone, it could not be faulted. What did everyone else think?

Thanks. See you there.

Maiden Oz – 5th March – The Basement

I was in, until you mentioned “drum solos” N-o-o-o-o run away…

Having sat through “Moby Dick” and “The Mule” and drum solos by just about every “classic rock” drummer I have no desire to see them ever ever ever again, even if Bonham has risen from the dead, and definitely not when reproduced by a covers band, thank you very much…

There’s a really cool poster for this one – but for some reason it hasn’t been included. Check it out at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=241306736703&index=1

Kambah. Far enough when you want to have a few drinks and have to pay $70 for a taxi there and back!!!

Ouch, that is the problem with getting old. You start to realise things like that. I myself plan to drink all night, pick up, throw up, pass out, wake up and catch the bus home in the morning.

Sounds awesome! I’ve seen most of those bands live but there’s nothing like some classic metal done by cover bands. Shame it’s so far away.

It’s not that far. Unless you are in Braidwood.
