A pizza topping grumble

fresh chilli topping

When I ordered extra toppings for my pizza on Saturday night (Crust in Braddon of course dahlinks) I’ll admit I was a little surprised when it turned out that “fresh chilli” was in fact just two chillis thrown in the box.

It’s only 50c I know, but i have lovely fresh chillis in the garden.

Is it too much to ask for a sweaty teenager to briefly labour dicing the chilli and sprinkling it over my pizza?

Or do you prefer it this way?

The pizza was otherwise excellent and delivered in a timely fashion.

Late to the party, but I just noticed this thread.. we had a similar situation when paying for “extra olives” on a margarita (Crust’s plainest pizza, which is the same price as everything else).

After seeing the chilli example above, I am beginning to suspect a cyborg lacking the True Spirit of Pizza is behind these abominations..

Our house has commented on the decline of Crust pizza as well. Not enough toppings for the prices charged. Perhaps the chillis were put there as a decoration? 🙂

We recently got a takeaway from a usually great restaurant and ordered the “Caramelized Pork and Prawns” only to find when we got home there were no prawns. Still it tasted wonderful but not with the prawn price tag.

Crust = insanely overrated, if you want a good factory pressed pizza, Pizza Capers are far better.

My guess is it was done that way to ‘prove’ they gave you fresh chillies (or to allow you to add the amount you wanted, in case they were too hot/weak)? I once overheard a guy in a restaurant complain that his natural oysters had already been ‘detached’ from their shells when he got them. He claimed he had no way of knowing they were fresh, so he sent them back. In that case, the chef tried to do the right thing and make them easier to eat (as they do EVERY time you buy natural oysters) and he got reamed. Maybe people will complain either way? Probably depends if you’re a glass ‘half full’ or ‘half empty’ person….

This is not the most surprising fast food ingredient mishap I’ve seen.
Very early morning and desperate for a feed, I’ve grudgingly had Maccas for “breakfast”.
Once, my Egg and Bacon McMuffin arrived without the egg but with two bits of egg shell.

What the?! That’s just strange. I have noticed that the quality of Crust pizzas has declined a little as their popularity has increased. I don’t know why they’d have whole chillies as ingredients, though. That’s just odd.

agreed – quality of pizzas has decreased as well as quality of customer service in proportion to increase in customer service. after a few below par experiences, i haven’t been back for months. which is a shame because they started out so well.

Perhaps you didn’t make it clear enough JB… did you say ‘chuck a couple of fresh chillis on top’?

It was more a tick box affair.

That’s a rather half-assed effort on the chilli, I haven’t had Crust yet, but I can’t say enough good things about Pizza Capers in Gungahlin!!

You should consider yourself lucky you didn’t order that with fresh chicken….

Yeah Crust pizzas are one very small step up from Dominos. That one looks like a car crash

If that is an excellent pizza then either you need to improve your food/photo skills or I need to lower my personal food bar.

breadmaker + pizza oven = heaven

10% dissatisfied customers = acceptable business risk.

That dissatisfied customer associate with RiotACT = ooops. Damage control anyone?

Someone forgot to chop the chillies? The rest looks pretty good though 🙂
