A social media page is obviously the answer to chronic youth under-enrolment

Elections ACT have the concerning news that less than half of the ACT’s 18 and 19 year olds are enrolled to vote come October.

To fix this they’ve created a facebook page which is the obvious answer to the problem.

They’re offering a draw for two iPads to those who like their page.

At the moment I am the second person to like them so the odds are pretty good.

I’d humbly suggest to Elections ACT that advertisting with us might be worth looking into as well.

UPDATE 06/08/12 11:16: Apologies. It doesn’t come up in search but this is the correct page with a whole 10 Likes right now, just ahead of the one we linked to.

Many Thanks JB and Ryan.

I am wondering if it is for every state, or just the ACT permit for residents who reside within the ACT (including nature park at Jervis Bay if that is not in NSW these days). Given the ease of being able to enter – im wondering what prevents false entries. If there is no NSW permit then I assume people who are a resident of NSW could also sign-up, so long as they moved to Canberra by the time of the draw?

Given the above, does anyone know the cost of such a page?

They could auto register most of them using ATO data alone.

School enrollments would be quite useful too (according to the AEC you can enroll from age 16)

Does anyone else find it stupid that they ‘know’ that half of the people aren’t registered.. Yet they need them to register to know how many there are and get their details?
Seems like they already have their details but they need to provide them anyway.

ACTVCC in this context would be “ACT Virtual Community Cabinet.”

ACTVCC is a scam? ACT Veterans Cycling Club…..?

Another funding grant scam in the works by the masters of power.

The ACTVCC thing was a scam – so much for open government, the ministers had robot block lists – all they are doing is setting up their own media relations businesses using ACT Government AEC grants.

Sending more click-traffic to a USA owned site should be illegal. And I bet the draw isn’t registered with the betting/lotto regulators.

It really says something when even the staff at Elections ACT couldn’t be conned into liking the page before putting out the media release!
