Foxsports tells the tale of a much needed win for the Canberra Raiders, giving their fans a thrilling high scoring game at Canberra Stadium.

Canberra withstood a late Parramatta revival before narrowly securing a much-needed 40-34 NRL victory at Canberra Stadium on Sunday.

After trailing 24-6 at halftime, Parramatta looked out for the count late in the match, down 34-18 with 12 minutes to go before launching a desperate comeback.

Sure it was a bottom of the table clash. But a win is a win!

If I recall correctly, Stadium Australia (or whatever the hell it’s called now) can be converted from oval to rectangular. And I know for sure that the new Yankee Stadium can be converted from diamond shape to a rectangle for american football.

So that’s a good question, why did a town with (relatively) limited facilities lock in its main stadium to one shape?

Olympic soccer

I knew that, but was there actually a requirement that the stadium’s field be built as a rectangle, not just the play surface reconfigured with rectangular boundaries and temp seating to fill the space beside the area of play?

Was it an IOC condition that the grass area actually be a rectangle? Not sure.

Back on topic, great ball strip by Dugan. While a win is a win, the Raiders looked like giving up the lead a few times. Not a convincing 80 minutes of football.
