Back in April we noted the efforts of the Yarralumla Residents Association (with suspected tacit help from YMCA sailing club members) to stop YMCA head office taking over the lake front facility for office use.

Aussielyn has sent in a scan of Friday’s ACT Civil & Administrative Tribunal decision on the matter which kicks the YMCA to the curb and orders them not to use the land for the “purpose of the head office or the general administrative functions of the Association”.

Good. As mentioned in the original discussion, the YMCA has been indulging in this kind of thing with a range of their affiliated clubs for some years now… if any of them have desirable facilities, the national organisation move in to get hold of it. Some affiliated clubs have had to take the drastic step of de-affiliating to prevent this.
