There was an actual ‘peak hour’ in Canberra yesterdat morning as hundreds of motorists made their way along Adelaide Ave to their Tuesday employment. I waited in traffic for…yes…one hour. I was busy sorting through my to do list for today and tried to make the most of a delay to work and didn’t have the radio turned on. Busy again all day and got hom well after the local news and I haven’t been able to find any news on the web of the accident on Adelaide Ave this morning – some colleagues said it invovlved two cars and two buses? Is there anyone out there who listened to the radio report OR watched local news tonight who can report on the accident? Thanks.

Mannequins can be useful. Between Park City and Kimball Junction in the US, they often park a cop car with a mannequin inside it. Drivers who are new to the area or tourists hit the brakes and then drive past very carefully… it’s mostly only locals who’ve worked it out. They call it “the fake cahp”.

I see plenty of lone passengers using the T2 lane in peak hour, very frustrating.

People in major cities such as Sydney and Melbourne regularly get booked for driving in the transit lane with a mannequin (sp) in the passenger seat

Yesterday morning on Wentworth Ave / Bowen Dr – cracker of a accident – a very large motorcycle managed to land itself on the roof of a very crunched Mazda. All seemd ok. Looked like the whole thing was started when a Camry’s bonnet decided to open and flip back over the windscreen. All behind braked but the Mazda weasn’t quick enough and was crunched from behind and managed to insert itself under the bike….

Tuesday was a bingley day. There were another three cars southbound north of Commonwealth Bridge, about halfway between Parkes Way and Commonwealth Park. 8:45?

By the time I had crawled along to the site of the accident everything was gone except for a blue car with a seriously crunched rear right quarter, might be the same car Katie mentioned. I was very impressed with all the law-abiding lone drivers who resisted the urge to jump in the T2… yet simultaneously wondering why on earth we weren’t making use of it!

Took me just under an hour to get from Weston Creek to Forrest.

“T2 lanes are only for 4 seaters or greater”

Er, the T2 lane is for vehicles carrying more than one person (i.e. 2 or more), so unless you and your passenger are monsterously obese, you only need 2 seats, not 4!

My car is 50% full when only I am in it….bloody T2 lanes are only for 4 seaters or greater! Why can’t I use a T2 when motorcycles can?

Yep, I was driving to work with my partner yesterday so we used the T2 lane and breezed past what must have been hundreds of cars. The traffic was barely moving from just before the woden roundabout to the lodge. A bus was pulled over, a car still sitting in the middle of the road with it’s right rear end mostly missing and some firies pouring sand about. It took us about 5 minutes to get from woden to parl house… Though I imagine the rest of the people with a single person driving were there for A LOT longer! They had closed all lanes bar the T2 once you got to the accident so everyone was merging. Why do so many people insist on driving their cars to work with only one person in them???

It was over the road from the Lodge – one Audi had a wheel ripped off and there was at least one other car and a bus involved. When we drove past (in the opposite direction) soon after nine the traffic was banked south from the accident to almost at the Woden roundabout – no wonder it took you an hour to get through.

Who’s on first…

Are you talking about an accident this morning (i.e. Wednesday 5th March) or yesterday (Tuesday 4th March)?
And is this accident a separate matter to the peak hour traffic you experienced yesterday? Or was that today???

Can you be more specific? Waiting for an hour you must have travelled from? to? I saw a rear-ender city bound on Yamba Dr just past Launceston St opposite pitch n putt about 8.30ish.
